Great trail to get a bit off the path within the NP...

Excellent Trail for being one of the best access points into the National Park...

Decent, easy trail. Nice if you’re right there, but don’t go out of your way to do it. It starts on a boardwalk going through a swamp, then it becomes more like a trail. After that, it ascends a small hill, passes some ruins, and ends on the road leading to Francis Bay, which is a great place to swim/snorkel.

The trail begins by ascending for a little under a mile at a moderately steep grade before reaching the summit of Caneel Hill, which has fabulous views of the entire Virgin Islands Archipelago. It then dips down and passes an overlook before ascending to the summit of Margaret Hill, which also has interesting views. After that, it descends moderately for a little over a mile, and ends by the entrance to Caneel Bay Resort. I would recommend hanging out at the resort (swimming, eating) before turning back. You can also take a taxi back to Cruz Bay if you are tired. A great hike, worth the effort.

Great easy walk to start our morning.

Stunning views from a deck at the top. Bring your picnic. The constant breeze keeps you cool enough. Slippery when wet. Path is rocky, were hiking shoes with good inserts.

Fun and easy trail.

Beautiful forest leading to amazing views.

I presume ranked hard because of the hike back...quite a climb. So many hermit crabs as you get closer to water. This was our most challenging hike on St John's but not the favorite.

Beautiful trail. A lot to see. The way down was really steep in the beginning so you can imagine what the way up was like. Bring lots of water to hydrate. Would definitely rate it moderate-hard.

This was a very easy trail down to the beach and back. You can hike over the rocks and go to a private beach and snorkel. The trail ends at a Rum Still and it is pretty cool. There are many little trails off of Reef bay to run off to. You can most definitely make a nice day of all of these little ones. Trails is maintained and the big huge things that look like massive bee hives are actually termites. You will see them all over and they are harmless.

Nice trail. Slick when wet. Hiked the trail down several times. There is a bus stop on centerline road at the trailhead so we took the trail to Cinnamon Bay Campground (where we were staying) to save on taxi fares. Side trip up to American Hill worth the effort.

Groomed trail. (We actually started near Maho Bay hiking up the Maria Hope Trail (rugged, trailhead not marked) then crossed Centerline Road to the Reef Bay Trailhead.) Side trip to petroglyphs a must. Right before you reach the ruins there is an amazing population of large land crabs. Sizeable bat population in one of the ruins. The actual beach was crawling with ants so we didn't stay long. We took the L'esperance trail out which is a tad longer, but less steep. Would rate both Reef Bay Trail and L'Esperance Trail at moderate.

I did this trail hike/walk a little over a year ago, and I still have nostalgia for it on a regular. Super easy trail that leads to a paradise!! I wore flip flops to get there and it didn't even phase me, or my feet. Make sure you take a towel and your snorkeling gear, and plan to stay on that beach at least an hour or two! So you might wanna pack a light snack, too. So beautiful!! Can't wait to visit here again someday.

Self-guided tour of historic ruins. Great history. Great views of BVI. Watch for hermit crabs crawling through the woods on way to ruins - they were everywhere the day we went.

Great trail that never gets old. Fantastic views of the water and other islands, as well as wildlife and vegetation. Several different options along the way, I usually choose Honeymoon and then return via the upper lind trail and look out over cruz bay!

We hiked this trail on Oct 6, 2012. We went out this mountain trail and hiked back along the coast. The mountain part offered great views of St. John island and the Carribean. If you are in this part of the Carribean this is a must hike. Just take plenty of water the temperature in Oct got to 89 and the humidity was in the mid 90%. Needless to say we took our time and took many breaks. All in all a great trail.

Easy family-friendly hike with excellent views of Cruz Bay from the lookout. Watch out for hermit crabs! It's a pretty hot hike during the summer, but it just makes the beach more refreshing!

This trail is on the east end of St. John. It is an easy walk mostly along a level beach. There are many ruins in the area that are very interesting. You also get many view of Tortola and other BVIs
