Hiking

This trail and these two beaches get a ton of buzz - probably because daytrippers can hike it from Cruz Bay without a car. Trailhead is right next to the visitor's center (fyi the center interior is quite small - you can finish the exhibits in 15 minutes). Free parking downtown is possible but hard to come by. There is permit parking by the trailhead - the sign says you can get a permit for parking from the visitor's center. We snagged a free park, but that would certainly be an easier solution if you need it. 1st section of trail can get hot in the sun. Solomon Beach is lovely and had very few people on it. Our kids loved Solomon. Honeymoon is larger and way more crowded with a pricey outdoor bar. (FYI - there is another way to get to Honeymoon Beach - people can drive to a highway parking lot near Honeymoon with a scammy road sign that says "free parking" with small print saying people pay $10 each for a round trip golf cart ride to access the beach.) The trail back does have a great view of Cruz Bay - just don't miss it - it's actually a tiny spur off the main trail. Our kids liked the trail, but if the beach destination is your goal and you have a car/jeep, I would actually recommend prioritizing other beaches over these.

HikingGreat!

Favorite Hike in the the National Park! Try to be at the trailhead at 7am to get easy parking and stay cool. There are 2 beaches on this hike - the 1st is sand and awesome for swimming. It has picnic tables and a bit of shade too. (Swim here on your way back.) The 2nd beach is pebbles/stones, almost all coral. Spend some time here looking for nifty coral and take photos of the best specimens. (You can't take found coral out of the USVI.) Follow cairns to continue the trail. Enjoy the Turks Head Cactus - look carefully as right now the plants are putting out seed pods that look like hot pink Christmas light bulbs. The view from Ram's Head has wonderful rugged scenery and the wind feels great. On the return trip, do the small trail that cuts across the north end of Salt Pond (the water is high right now - walk along bank and eventually trail will appear). There are giant hermit crabs in this area. Trail pops you out at Drunk Bay, where people have made sculptures of people and animals out of coral. Head back to Salt Pond Bay for a swim, and you'll be back at the trailhead before 11.

Definitely a moderate hike! Easy downhill on the way in with some rocks and mud. Lots of hermit crab and deer. Petroglyph trail has 2 grams waterfall views- the higher up is “off trail”. The beach is rocky and great to cool off but not walk on barefoot. Bees on the trail! Overall would rate difficulty as a 7/10 due to incline on the way out and overall distance. We hiked to the waterfall and continued to the beach. 5.7miles total for us. Bring at least 1L of water per person.

Pretty incredible. The kids couldn’t make the ascent to Ram’s Head Point, but we did about 70% of the trail. Bring a extra H2O on a hot day. The trail leads to a rocky beach where you follow some cairns to get back to the trail up the hill. We really loved this experience.

A world-class beach awaits you at the bottom of the hill. We started at Lind Point, signs said .3m to Honeymoon beach, it’s more like .5m, but not too difficult. Our 4 year old did it herself. Down to the beach and back up to the trailhead.

Very easy trail. Well marked. Somewhat rocky but a nice easy trail. Not a lot of coverage at all. We went on a cloudy day so it was cool but I’m sure it could get really hot on this trail.

WalkingRocky

Really nice trail from Cruz Bay to Solomon Beach and Honeymoon Bay. It’s very well marked but somewhat rocky in some spots. I’d rate it as “easy” except for those with mobility issues. Definitely take the upper trail to the overlook. The climb is no worse than the walk back up from either beach and the view is well worth it. Solomon is a lovely, little pebbly beach. Honeymoon was a little too “touristy” for us, but we strongly prefer very secluded beaches. It does offer a food stand where you can grab a bite and replenish water.

This was an extremely beautiful trail and highly recommended. We went early in the morning so sun was not that hot. Make sure you find the other half of the trail that takes you to the cliffs!

HikingOff trail

Our original intention was a quick hike to Europa Bay before heading back to Little Lameshur for the 4th of July. We accidentally stumbled across the "Europa Point" trail and decided to take it (good decision). This trail hadn't seen much foot traffic recently as we "blazed" forward. Not a long nor difficult hike but the view from the point is definitely worth it (see pics). Of the 3 "point trails" we hiked on this visit to St. John, Europa Point ranked third but still worth the trip.

Killer trail. Serious elevation change. Took about an hour down at a good pace and a little over that to get back. It was about 80 degrees out and 100% humidity. Entrance is off the road by the rock wall, see pictures, a handful of street parking right by it. We were drenched and feeling the burn by the end. Not for all ages that’s for sure. Great views and worth it. Hit the petroglyphs trail towards the bottom. Worth it to see. And the sugar mill ruins at the very end before the beach is very cool. The beach is okay, rocky course sand and rocky bottom going out of the water. You’ll need water shoes if you want to get in.

Amazing trail. Moderate difficulty due to elevation change, rocky terrain, and full sun exposure the whole way. Salt Pond beach is at the very beginning and a beautiful sandy beach with clear water. Great way to end the hike and chill out. The view at the top is worth it. Great hike!

I did Upper Lind in the way to Honeymoon Beach and Lower Lind on the way out because I was wiped. I did it in flip flops which was okay but if you do Upper Lind, hiking shoes or tennie runners are recommended. It’s just barely more than what I would consider easy but Lower Lind was a breeze. As other reviewers have noted, there’s no shade so be sure to wear sunscreen (reef safe if you’re planning for a dip in the ocean, please). Great sandy beach and clean, clear water but it’s salty so have some extra water on hand to clean your eyes and face.

Nice trail. Can be hot if you’re not prepared for it at the wrong part of the day. Hiked there and then hit the beach we passed on the way in on our return to find a rare urchin, some conch, giant fish and a group of baby turtles. I dug it.
