I suggest skipping Mt. Erziping - as of July 2020 the path is almost non-existent, and the summit is so overgrown that there is no view. Datun Mountain paths are very steep in places (might be described as a scramble), but a good walk with good views nevertheless.

Trail with many endless steps. Beginning part is shaded with low bamboo bush, once emerge to the mountain is no shade. 360deg view at the peak of QiXing mountain, beautiful especially on a good day. Highly recommended, bring food n water and hiking sticks.

If you’re looking to do a longer hike near Taipei, this was a great option. Brings you past most of the major areas of the park. Only major downside is that the last mile or two have you walking alongside the road. The first part is a big climb up to the peak. It’s challenging, but rewarding. Was foggy the day we did it, so the “incredible vistas” all the signs say you can expect weren’t visible, though we still thought it was worth the climb. You pass the Visitor Center, we stopped in and had a look. They’re very friendly and keen to show you the space, which has good displays on the park. Besides the peak, you get to see natural hot springs (just be prepared for sulfur smells), grasslands, a boggy area, and the large suspension bridge. Unfortunately the grasslands had a small section closed due to the Buffalo mating season, but you can take alternative routes that meet back up with the path. You’ll pass plenty of tourist sites with bathroom facilities. This route takes you through all the major features of this National Park, so we definitely recommend. Took us around 6-7 to complete, including our detour and stops to see buffalo, views, Visitor Center, etc. Great day out, lots of steps and good exercise involved, easy to get to the starting point, and a 7-Eleven is right there for goodies before and after the hike (with a bathroom if you need it!).

Great workout! Initially a lot of steps going up and down to the peak and then the second trail is a much nicer walk without great elevation changes. Took us about 4 hours to complete with a few breaks and a couple of short side trails to the nearby pond.

Nice trail although at the beginning very busy and so we took a small extra d-tour which took us 2 extra hours. For not experienced people a good trail and giving a good first impression of nature in Taiwan.

L'appli donne une liste assez complète des randonnées, il fourni un gps, et permet d'enregistrer une trace du parcour.

The view was fantastic along the whole trail. However, it requires high fitness level. The trail condition is poor after rain, there will be mud everywhere and the slope is incredibly sharp. Be really to get dirty and enjoy the scenery.

August 14, 2017 This is a great hike - a good challenge, mix of scenery, great views (when clear), and adventure. If possible, take transit and do a point-to-point hike. Start at Yangmingshan National Park Visitor Center. Follow signs to Main Peak & East Peak. Go down Lengshuikeng Trail. Recommended to go on a clear day to ensure you get nice views! Time: 2.5hrs point-to-point (athlete) Photos uploaded & shared!
