Length: 6.2 mi • Est. 3 h 34 m
The bisses are the historic irrigation canals of Valais and the bisse du Tsittoret is a real corner of paradise. It brings the waters of the Tièche to the Noble Land and thus waters the meadows and vines of Venthône, Randogne, Mollens, Miège, Sierre and Veyras. Don't forget to taste the local products at the Cave du Scex or at the Colombire mountain pasture. The departure is from the Colombire mountain pasture which you can reach by bus. You then take the bisse where you are protected by beautiful trees to reach the valley of the Tièche with magnificent views and various waterfalls. In the mountain le Plan you can also join the path to go up to Trubelstock. The descent is via the Cave du Sex or also called Scex. A unique place with animals and especially local products.Show more

Hike along the beautiful paths to the artificial lake Illsee and enjoy the mountain view on the Meretschi alp. In Chandolin there are parking spots in the center of the village, there is no free parking in the village. The hike starts at the tourist office, in the center of the village. To start off the hike climb immediately in the direction of the first mountain pass called "Pas de l'Illsee". From this mountain pass you can also visit the Illhorn, with a height of 2716m, from this summit you'll get an amazing view over the Rhone valley. When reaching the summit of Pas d'Illsee you can already see the lake in its full glory. From here you'll also get a nice view on the destination of the hike: the Meretschi Alp. From the mountain pass descend to the lake of Illsee. It is an artificial lake with a small barrage where you walk over. Once passed, the climb to the Meretschi awaits. When you reach the Meretschi Alp, look behind you and be amazed by the view on the closest mountain summits and further on the Rhone Valley and the higher mountains further on. To return to Chandoin ascend back to the lake and walk in the direction of the second mountain pass: Illpass. This piece of the hike is not guided with the familiar yellow roadsigns, it is a cow path that runs to the Illpass. Just beneath the ill pas, the path is a bit rockier, so be a bit more careful. Once reached start your final descent to the village of Chandolin.Show more
