Length: 8.3 mi • Est. 4 h 19 m
This route is one of the most beautiful within the Corona Forestal Natural Park. Its rock formations from which this trail takes its name and the views from the Los Escurriales viewpoint will leave hikers speechless. The route begins in the old town of Vilaflor, later taking three consecutive detours, which lead to the desired path towards the Lunar Landscape of Tenerife. The route is not technically difficult, but the terrain is uneven, especially at the beginning and the path is very steep and therefore you have to be physically prepared. However, there is a shorter option that is also worth it. Don't forget to bring good hiking shoes, water, and sunscreen.Show more

Length: 7.7 mi • Est. 4 h 53 m
Circular trail that begins in the recreational area of La Caldera near Aguamansa through the heights of La Orotava. A route that runs along a well-kept path with unbeatable views of the La Orotava valley Itinerary It begins in the recreational area of La Caldera that is after passing Aguamansa. After about 100 meters there is a detour to the left that takes us to said caldera. The entire route runs through Canarian pine forest and a bit of Monteverde with shady areas of so much humidity and along a well-kept path that makes this route recommended for its beauty and layout. Going to the left we will find a path along which we will go up until reaching, after 1.6 km, a track in the area called Chimoche. Turning to the left we will find a crossroads of tracks that we will pass straight ahead to immediately see the path to be followed. Without deviating, especially at the beginning when we will see a path that crosses that is the one that takes us to Candelaria, we will go along the side of the mountain on a route with views of the entire La Orotava valley. The descent has no more problems than possible slipping due to the wet needles. Going down carefully and after crossing a forest track, about 20 meters to the right we will see the path that takes us to a second forest track that, following it to the left for 3 km, takes us back to La Caldera.Show more

Length: 54.5 mi • Est. Multi-day
In the Canary Islands from La Esperanza to La Orotava, this route runs almost entirely through forest tracks with gentle slopes between the historic pine and laurel forests of Tenerife, which is a type of tropical forest that once covered much of the island. There are also narrow nature trails, brushwood, and more enclosed wilderness areas to explore. This is the section between La Caldera and the visitor center at El Portillo in the volcanic Teide National Park. On this hike, you will have the opportunity to see the La Orotava Valley and the island of La Palma. You will arrive at a place known as the Fuente del Pino or Dornajito. From there, connecting with the PR-TF-35, the trail enters a pine forest with thick undergrowth. In this first part of La Orotava, the markers will indicate the boundary between the public land and the forest along the fence of the private farms. Little by little, the forest is transformed into a laurel forest, dominated by "Faya", heather and other characteristic species of laurel, such as the strawberry canary. As you climb, the journey will take you to an increasingly dense pine forest with species of shrubs typical of these heights, such as Teide, broom and Codeso. The point where the forest ends is where the climb to the El Portillo visitor center in Teide National Park begins.Show more

A beautiful route with a starting point in the La Caldera recreational area, which runs partly along the Water Route of the Corona Forestal Natural Park, in the middle of lush vegetation and with magnificent views on clear days. Note July 2020: the trail seems to be in poor condition, with a lot of vegetation and some fallen trees. It is recommended to download the AllTrails map before starting the route and to exercise caution.Show more

This route that begins near Tijoco Alto and heads towards Risco Tonasaro is a beautiful excursion of high difficulty in the protected landscape of the Corona Forestal Natural Park. It is recommended to download the AllTrails map as there are sections of the trail without signs. Check the weather forecast before making this route and do not do it if the terrain is wet. The initial climb is quite hard and steep and you can see cacti and a lot of interesting flora, it is a site of scientific interest. You also pass through one of the most impressive lava flows on the island of Tenerife. The last kilometer of the route is spectacular.Show more

Length: 5.8 mi • Est. 3 h 25 m
A route that allows you to enjoy the upper midlands, the southern peaks of the island and the beautiful corners of the municipality of Vilaflor in Tenerife North, Canary Islands. Las Lajas Recreational Area is the ideal starting point for carrying out a large number of mountain activities. From this place we can take walking tours, climb in the Fuente Fría and Los Riscos area or make the descent of the Barranco del Cuervo among others. It has services, a camping area, a fire pit and a large car park. The proposed route starts from the recreational area and heads southeast to go to the Casas de Fuente Fría, continuing until reaching the Lomo de los Pegueros and continuing the ascent through the Barranco de Pegueros, we pass very close to the source of the same name. When we reach the small cutthroat of the Sombrero de Chasna in the Anaga massif, we will be able to deviate in a southerly direction to reach its summit after avoiding a small pass in which it will be necessary to climb a few meters. Once at the summit we can enjoy spectacular views of the southern slope of the island. We return to the hatch of the Sombrero de Chasna to ascend to El Filo and also enjoy a majestic panoramic view of El Teide and a large part of the Cañadas. This is the ideal place to rest, eat something and regain strength to start the return. We return by skirting the Sombrero Chico and heading towards the Hoya Fría Gallery, crossing the Barranco del Dornajito and later descending again to the Las Lajas Recreational Area. An ideal tour for families and highly recommended throughout the year except on hot summer days.Show more
