Go early to avoid crowds. We started at 7am and we’re at top at 9am. Gorgeous

Very good trail. The first climb goes to the Kasteelsport lookout, near Old Cableway station. Some people prefer to climb up this lookout and return the same way they came. After this stretch, the path to the Cable Car is a bit drawn, especially if it is windy a lot, as you have to go up and down some valleys. Not to mention that we have not seen any other person in this part. The trail physically demands. The person who accompanied me was not prepared and had to make several stops to rest, making our journey take 6h at all. I recommend that you go prepared with water, clothes of cold cuts wind, and a map, because some stretches are not well signposted. I left the trail in one stretch and only noticed looking at the map. At the top there is a cafeteria next to the tram station. Also, wonderful view of Cape Town, it's well worth it!

My favorite hike with amazing views starting just at its base. Elevation is 2,195′ and peaks at 669 metres above sea level. This hike is best at sunrise or sunset, it is challenging , beautiful and a great accomplishment once at the top. To get to the top you must climb up ladders, chains and staples in the sides of rock. Along the way about 20 minutes you’ll reach the first set of metal ladders on the Lions Head hike. Instead of climbing the first ladder, along the sides you’ll see caves along the old hiking trail one famously known as Wally’s Cave a nice resting spot in the shade with stunning views. Continue up the mountain to the ultimate viewing area with a Lions head sign you can hang off of and other amazing looking points.

A physical preparation is necessary for this path.

Most of this hike is just stairs. It may be difficult for those who are not physically fit, but one does not need a lot of hiking experience to reach the top. Beautiful hike up and down. Highly recommend!

I made this a little longer by hiking up from GreenMarket in the CBD. It ended up being 5.2 miles in total. Nice experience to leave from bowl and look back on it as you gain elevation. The gorge itself is short but intense. I felt the burn getting to the top and rewarded myself with a cable car ride down and an Uber back. Enjoy!

Great scramble up Skeleton Gorge from Kirstenbosch with ladders but longer than planned. Hiked past reservoirs and eventually reached summit. Extensive views over Cape Town. Took cableway back down.

Moderate trail, it's busy on weekends it's best to do it during the week. The sunrise view is breath taking in summer. Beautiful views as you go around the mountains. It's a must must do!!!!

What you miss with just hiking Plattenklip is that none of your photo's have the spectacular Table Mountain in them. Plus I would argue the overall views from Devil's Peak are better anyway. The 1st half to the Saddle is easier, with the 2nd half being steeper and with larger step ups. There is also a section of loose stones/rocks that could be ankle turners. Take plenty of water and sunscreen as shade is limited througout - although we did have a later than intended start time. If you don't have a vehicle, Uber can do drop off and pick up atbthe start from Tafelberg Rd start point. Just make sure the driver has the right drop off destination as ours relocated to loeer down the hill. Ignore the distance, forgot tomstop recording before returning to CBD.

The trail is rough with some stairs that make things difficult but it's doable anyone who loves hiking can do it. The views are breathtaking take as much pictures as you want.

It's not an easy hike, be prepared for some rock climbing as you make your way to the top.

Surprised that there is no water in the lake on top of the mountain. Trail is stunning as always

Best hike ever - awesome nature display - hard hike

Brutal if you are not prepared - most beautiful nature experience

brilliant hike started out at 4.00 am using head lamps our guide Muki promised us a beautiful sun rise from the top and he was as good as word. we are in out later 50's and it took 2.45hrs to get up. one of the best days ever.

The views are worth the effort. Heavily traffic, but makes for some good conversation. Plenty of kids doing the trail.

Amazing scenery, subject to strong winds. Partly boarded, partly on rock, with stairs down to the beach if your brave enough for a cold swim. Keep an eye on young kids as no rails along edges.

Short wasy walk to stunning views. Child friendly, paved, subject to strong winds.

Great trail. Took about 2 hours to do to the peak. Was a little steep for my wife but overall rather easy.
