This trail begins and ends at Relvão Park and takes around 2 hours. Begin the ascent in the direction of the Fort. After passing the arcade turn left and follow the signs. Go on for about 300m and you will reach Santo António Chapel. From this part of the trail you will have a fine view over the town and the bay. Climb the path on your left until you reach the picnic park from where the track continues up to Pico do Facho. Enjoy the view (the highest point of Monte Brazil: 250m) then head down for about 1 km until you find a small path on your left. On this path there are steps carved out of tree trunks and hewn out of the rock. A bit further on you will come to a fork in the path where you turn left to visit the Quebrada Fort. Return to the fork and take the path to the left bordered by Australian Cheesewood (Pittosporum undulatum). After walking for about 1 km you will come to a turning to the left that leads to Vigia da Baleia (whale lookout). Return by the same track and head straight down, first on a beaten earth track and then on tarmac until you see an arrow indicating the path leading up to Pico das Cruzinhas. Once you have walked down this last part of the trail you will be back where you set out.Show more
