Nice walk around the lake. Reals needs to be done on a cloudless still day to be exceptional.

Beautiful views of the alps with the reflective Matheson Lake. Very well paved and easy. Only took about 1 hour to do the hike.

good little hike. We didn't go until the end of tunnel because it's writed close but still good to discover the first part. some glow worm in the tunnel, think to turn off your light sometimes and adapt your eyes few seconds :)

Nature tripsGreat!

Definitely need good footwear and a decent torch. some easier parts than others. the single shingle track towards the end is steep but the effort is so worth it. Went on a day that a storm was due to hit, so quite wet. A lovely walk.

HikingGreat!

中等级别的步道,比Robert’s简单很多,偶尔小泥泞和攀爬,爬到Christmas Lookout用时3个小时(慢速爬升), 在那里可以看到冰川全景。

Sehr cooler track!

really good walk! took me 1 hrs 30 mins to Arat lookout and 2 hrs 10 mins to Christmas lookout. Quite breathtaking but don't forget your warm clothes even if it's warm down below. It was pretty chilly at Xmas lookout. didn't need special shoes but would recommend hiking shoes! awesome hike!!!

Absolutely incredible walk through the woods- lots of tree roots to clamber up through. If it’s winter- stop at Christmas look out unless you have proper hiking ice gear!! It’s slippy and very icy further up and not worth it for the views in my opinion -If you’re going up to see the glacier anyway. Other than that an incredible walk- but don’t underestimate it. It’s not easy. We made it most the way up (1km short) in 3 hours and down in the same as it’s very steep. I’d class us as pretty fit, experienced hikers while walking at a decent pace and struggled at points.

Amazing views and easy trail. Altough the walk itself doesn't take 1 5 hour, with all the stops for taking pictures it will!!

Le chemin est fermé pour cause d'éboulement. Vous pouvez continuez mais il faudra se mouiller les pieds pour traverser la rivière

I'm giving it 4 stars for the hike I know it could have been, but for the love of God please do not attempt it on a rainy, cloudy or damp day, which I know is difficult in the Southern Alps. If you have a cloudless day, get your butt up here immediately. Otherwise, skip it. Do not hike it hoping the clouds will go away, you'll be disappointed. It also gets veryyyy slippery at the top so make sure it was relatively ry the day before.

Easy and beautiful! If you can, go on a clear, sunny day and you'll be able to see gorgeous mirror reflections. I imagine it get quite crowded though, so maybe go early or later. You'll also find mirror-like views at Peters Pool in Franz Joseph!

Crazy to see where the glacier used to be and it is a nice easy trail, but its less then you'd expect. If you can handle an intense hike you must to Robert's trail (go on a nice, DRY day) to get so much closer to it!

Muddy

Absolutely beautiful trail and gorgeous views of the glacier too. Make sure to get there early as the clouds roll in about noon and really obscure the view. I completed this trail yesterday (9/6) and started around 8:30am, spent an hour or so at the top, and then descended. Bit of snow at the top, and I reckon you could continue a bit further, but I didn't have the gear or waterproof shoes. Time up was 2h50m, time down around 2h20 or so at a moderate-slow pace, so not the full 8 hours that the DOC sign suggests.

the walk itself was fine, the end result a little disappointing. dont get me wrong you can go through the cave but it is blocked off at the end of the cave so you literally get to the end and then turn around again.

The trail is open, only at the very end of the tunnel there’s a sign saying the path is closed. There was a little stream on the ground of the tunnel after a day of heavy rain, but it was fine to walk in the water (feet got a little wet though). Other than that, a cool short hike and we saw glow worms at the very end of the tunnel!

Brutal, that’s the word. Especially if you go further than the mount fox signalisation. Do it when no rain day before and on a very clear day. Very challenging also the first part on the forest, sometimes you have to climb with hands and it can slip, careful on the going down. But the view is very impressive. Bring lot of water and food
