Lovely little track with lots of stairs. The track is mostly covered and in great condition. Please, please, please use the trigene spray and brushes to clean your shoes - it does make a difference. Please check here for updates: https://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/environment/plants-animals/pests-weeds/protect-our-kauri-trees/Pages/track-closures-hunua-ranges.aspxShow more

Please note: As of January 21, 2020, users have reported that a portion of this trail is closed for maintenance. Please consult the park's website before visiting. This trail has a good incline and isn't too long. It is covered most of the time with some fallen trees along the way. If you go clockwise you’ll find the trail markers disappear once you start heading back, it’s okay though because the trail is pretty obvious. Show more

*Closed to protect kauri trees https://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/environment/plants-animals/pests-weeds/Pages/protect-our-kauri-trees.aspx The route links up two very picturesque reservoirs and also taking in the magnificent Hunua Falls. The Hunua Ranges comprise NZ’s basement rock, known as greywacke, which was uplifted several million years ago, with volcanic explosions finally cooling to form basaltic lava plugs. The Hunua Falls are one of the best examples of this, where the water falls over the remnant of a lava plug. Start at the carpark on Otau Road just after the turn-off from Moumoukai Road. The route finishes at the Hunua Falls.Show more
