A very nice easy hike through a pretty forest to this serene and beautiful alpine lake. Do not expect any views until you get to the lake :). Walking by the roaring waters of The Gantry is impressive, but it’s not a water fall as some descriptions suggest. Enjoy!

Love this hike a true kiwi trail

Short easy walk to a very cool place

The falls are very nice, but the view is only partial and from a distance

Nice small trek with a perfect view from the top ! The lac Marian is awesome from there

I loved the hike along the top (once I got there!) along the ridge. Beautiful views...you feel like you’re on top of the world. Side hikes to the cave and waterfall are a must!

Enjoy changing perspectives of Milford Sound as you follow the foreshore path.

The Chasm Path is a well-maintained gravel walkway through lush green forest to a series of bridges overlooking the Cleddau River with its powerful waterfalls and smooth round potholes carved by the swirling water. Only a few miles from Milford Sound and just off the main Milford Road, this is a short but worthwhile stroll.

i did it under snow and low clouds but it was still magical to be above the bushline

Did the hike in and back as a loop. Lots of seals!

Perhaps my favorite Great Walk.

Great tramp! Unfortunately couldn't reach the very end as of spring snow and lack of equipment.

Well, if you want a challenging hike, you found it here! Due to the climate of this region, expect this trail to be very wet - several mud bogs to cross over, plus slippery roots and four creek crossings (with slippery rocks). You can see some amazing flora and fauna here, particularly birdlife. Give yourself plenty of time: the sign posted at the trailhead is full of lies (2 hours one way is optimistic). As much as it was a challenge, it was one of the most memorable hikes I've done. Bring spare socks to stay dry!

Pick the best weather day and get up there! It offers completely stunning 360 deg views and lovely green healthy vegetation the whole way up.

I hiked this trek on a cloudy, rainy day in late-January. The Milford Sound area had seen only one sunny day in two months, so I wasn't alone in my wet experience. The path is mostly a steady ascent of switchbacks amongst lush green, with a couple waterfalls near the base, and ending at a guided nature walk. There's a sign at the summit with a photo of the surrounding view, which gave me a glimpse at what I could have been seeing behind the clouds. Looks amazing; wish I could have seen it live! Nice trek, but do know that you'll be disappointed in a (lack of) vista reward if the weather isn't in your favor.

Loved this hike when we did it about three years ago in the spring. There are two lakes at the top that perfectly reflected the snow-capped peaks around Key Summit.

Best hike I've ever done.

This moderate to difficult track was slippery with uneven terrain. The ascent was relatively gradual though. View of Lake Marian at the top was worth the effort. Absolutely stunning glacial lake. Took us 3 hours RT with time for pictures at the top.

One of the best hikes I have ever done...and I have done hundreds of hikes. Cascading waterfalls, steep peaks, a couple small stream crossings, this hike has it all. Here is my full story on this fantastic route!

Wow kepler, probably deserves an ode but a mere review will have to suffice. Spectacular scenery from lakeside to fern filled forests and gnarly trees growing sideways out of the hillside to sweeping views of valleys and lakes with clouds rolling in and out like the tide. With good weather the views cannot be beat. The sleeping huts make your pack lighter. This trek is a must do!
