I would recommend this trail for those looking for a short walk through native bush.

Did this one march 2017. Perfect day mt cook is awe inspiring, crowded trail but plenty wide. Go for it!

A lot of steps in the beginning and one deep part witch shouldn't be underrated if there is snow. But after all I did the hike with snow in the deep part without any special equitment. And the View was awesone. It took me 3 hours return, with a longer break at the hut.

Breathtaking views on the glaciars on top. But stairs are messing with knees on the first part ! The second one is mainly loose rocks, going down can be a bit slippery sometimes but nothing too bad. The hut is incredible as well and the wardens were super nice. The top was really windy and cold. it took us a bit less than 5 hours up and down with a nice long lunch break.

06Apr2019: Closed at the first bridge, unsure of when they will reopen!

Incredible and breathtaking views but it is very steep up which makes it also hard to come down. Expect your knees to hurt by the end of it but it's totally worth it.

Bring headlamps and insulated clothing... hike to Mueller Hut for the day. All areas crowded... hike back down at sunset to get great views of sunset before the clouds and alpenglow illuminate Mt.Cook. Kea’s can be seen at Seally Tarns at dusk when all the people leave. Just watch your bags/boots/gloves/etc while you watch the sunset. An amazing hike down in the dark. Lots of lemur-pandas (opossums) on the trail at night. Hooker Valley is closed at the first swing bridge due to rain for the next 6-8 weeks.

We were lucky to have a perfect sunny day to hike on 3/23/2019, right before the track was closed a few days later. The views were fantastic with Mt Cook from all angels.

as of 27.03.19 2nd swing bridge out for repairs due to flooding and land slides. trail closed at 1st swing bridge

CLOSED THIS MONTH due to heavy rainfall!

Pretty easy! Beautiful even during rainy days

Easy track, great views and a good spot for lunch at the end before heading back. Could hear the rumble of avalanches too.

Purely a 5 star rating for the view itself.. it’s just an amazing backdrop the whole track out.. easy walking but very heavily trafficked..

Super easy hike, just lots of people. Beautiful views of lakes and Mt cook plus the iceburgs floating.

This hike was a nice easy walk. Quite busy due to how easy the hike is. The scenery was amazing, with beautiful rivers and fun bridges. Took us about 2 hrs return. 100% recommend this hike.

This trail MUST be the best effort to views ratio in all of New Zealand. My boyfriend and I had such a great time. very casual walk and everything was stunning. keep in mind though because it is so easy it is heavily trafficked. probably the most trafficked of any of the day hikes I did in New Zealand.
