Towada-Hachimantai National Park (十和田八幡平国立公園) is known to be absolutely beautiful during the whole year. This park features lakes and steaming hot springs nestled in ancient volcanoes and snow covered mountains. During the spring, visitors can expect to see alpine flowers on mountain slopes and lush green leaves in the woodlands. If going in the fall, the colors of the trees become a magnificent sight in the park. Towada-Hachimantai is known to be an inspiration to stories and spirituality, visitors can check out the pilgrimage routes, shrines, and hear about the folk tales that was created from this park. Towada-Hachimantai is also home to Oirase Gorge, Hakkoda mountains, Lake Towada (a good place for a cruise and sightseeing), and Nyuto Onsen, a mountain hot spring. Additionally, during the winter, visitors can snowboard and ski down the slopes.
