The sjona-sker section of the trail is much more desolate and less crowded. The views are fantastic

I was very lucky, it was a beautiful day, the sky was clear and the wind was still. Then it's an amazing view especially at the peak.

Amazing, takes longer to get all the pics, bits it’s unreal!!!! Layer clothes if it’s windy! Very impressive

This trail is beautiful!! Only has to be 1.4 miles RT if you don’t go all the way. A must do if you are in the area Also recording is WAY longer than it should be. We took tons of pictures and took our time

very well maintained trails, easy to find our way, and so excited to finally see Svartifoss. Nice view of the glacier, and a surprise caldera on the way.

Spectacular scenery, as well as diamond beach.

Awesome trail, amazing views and lush greenery all around you. I decided not to take black path to the peak with my husband, so we split and I went along the red trail instead. Still great.

Just off the road. Can stop for 5 min for a view without much hiking

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind

Easy walk to the glacier and back. Should be rated as easy. Worth your while as you get away from the crowds near the bridge and get much better view on the glacier face and the lagoon.

Heading out from the main tourist area, we saw maybe one other couple but apart from that we were completely isolated and got amazing views. Perfect hike for beginner to intermediate level, low traffic. Felt completely isolated from the tourist area. Decent workout and picnic spot.

Not a hike but beautiful spot to check out the glaciers and seals. Try and go at non peak time so it is quieter. I liked diamonds beach more.

Hot coffee, tinkling glaciers, to-die-for experience. Be sure to cross the road to see Breidamerkursandur (or, the "Diamond Beach) across the road, on the ocean-side. EASY to miss! Breath-taking.

Just finished the hike about ten minutes ago and had a very negative experience. I will say this on repeat on absolute full blast. YOU NEED TO DO THIS IN SUNNY OR CLEAR WEATHER. Rain and clouds were my view all the way through. It’s like going to a car race and all the drivers and cars show up with crews but they cars are broken down. Rainy, miserable, muddy trail. Should have seen it coming Bleh. We did get some nice views of one part of the glacier at one point and it was awesome. Try to plan your hike around the weather and if it turns out good. You’ll have a hell of hike based off what I have seen. If not, then do something else.

Lots of people of course, but the area is large enough to spread out. It’s great seeing the iceberg make it to sea. Magical place on Diamond Beach.

Overall it was an amazing run. we were unfortunately up there on a cloudy day so vies weren't great but still had a few great views. Not many people, great trail conditions, lots of water!!

If you're going here do the kayak tour fer sure. Nice to see everything on shore but a very cool experience to paddle along side the icebergs and blue green water, quiet, surreal, calm. Saw a berg flip and the sound resonated in the water, very bassy you can feel it. You'll be far from the calving glacier edges, but close to diamond beach with fur seals on the shore... not much hiking, but time spent to chill and soak it in ...2-3 hours max. Hot dogs and fish & chip trucks if ya get hungry.

Spent two days at this cool park between glacier climb day and glacier lagoon kayaking day. Main goal here was to hit the peak, went counter-clockwise with great views of waterfalls and glaciers from several different locations on the way up. Nice cool sunny weather all day until close to the top when it clouded up and got colder, but a very cool, unworldly moonscape of volcanic uplifts. Increasing elevation changes with very loose rocky footing, some technical climbing closer to the top. Weather miraculously broke briefly for amazing photo/video and clouded up again. Heard avalanches in the distance, not sure if it was rock or ice. Kinda got low on water and kibble on the way up, bring extra. Took longer than I thought too, but I think counter clockwise was harder than clock-wise. Took the eastern most trail to descend back to camp, very edgy in the sense of the thin wooded footpath with sheer drop to ones left for most of the trip down. Totally amazing experience to accomplish this destination. Lots of birds and an arctic fox seen! Would try clockwise next time.

Beautiful scenery! Not much of a hike if you’re looking for a workout but a nice stroll to stretch your legs. I would say this is easy rather than moderate.

I didn’t stop the gps before I got in the car so the recording is too long, but it was super fun! Lots of wildflowers and you can walk right up to the glacier. Beautiful! Parked at the hotel without any problems.
