beautiful hike with tons of views. it's a little intense in the heat but almost half of the trail is in the shade once you get past the peak. the bay was a nice reward and beautiful as well. highly recommended.

Well marked easy to moderate trail with spectacular harbour views early on. The second half was a very calm walk through the forest. Went in the rain and very few points of shelter along the path

The trail is fairly easy. I hiked in August 2018. Go early as only portions of it have coverage. Mostly stores on the ascend, once up there your walk Swift rolling little hills, nothing to hard. Really great views of HK’s gold cost and just angle after angle of ocean and terrain views. What a great morning ending in the little beach village where you will find great/cheap food and the short bus back to the subway.

A nice trek in the morning with a range of scenery to walk through and see. First 3rd felt like the most challenging but would agree with a moderate rating.

A solid trail that is maintained and had great views!

With the exception of intense crowding on weekends, this trail was really high quality. Well-travelled and marked enough that a new hiker could navigate it well, but if taken at speed and hustling up the hills there and back can be a really great workout. Do be wary of the hordes of trail runners on nice weekend days, get out on a weekday if you can.

Great hike. But moderate rating is a stretch. More moderate to challenging.

Great view! mix mountain and ocean views, beautiful trail inside a busy island like Hong Kong!

Very nice trail, only 15 out of bustling Hong Kong, easy track and clearly marked, awesome morning views of the South China Sea

Incredible views of beaches, Tai Tam Bay, and the ridge. Extremely close to the MTR, only a half hour walk uphill. Steep hills along the water are an incredibly dramatic site. However, the Saturday morning crowd made the physical activity a bit stressful due to poor trail etiquette: folks were walking while on their phones with their heads down, some stopped right in the middle of the trail for their snack or lunch, numerous people were playing loud music from pocket speakers..

Trail is good for a casual hike with a few amazing views of some villages and some islands/hills. Based on the GPS it isn’t a 8/9 km hike from the starting point but a 4-5 km ish trail if you follow the path.

The last bit of the trail is quite mossy, which makes it really slippery. Definitely recommend for a breathtaking view of the Shek O beach.

It was a paved road with cars coming through almost all the way down. Nice views but not very relaxing due to the amount of rubbish everywhere. Nice spot at the end but not worth the time.

Nice hike with undulating hills. Great vistas for majority of the hike. Very easy to catch the #9 bus (and you can use your octopus card). Don't do this is the rain - we did it on a dry day after a sprinkle and it quickly became slippery.

A trail that requires a steady pace and has nice panoramic views.

Excellent views of both sides of the island. There are quite a few steps, particularly at least he start and end, but generally easy to moderate walking and very well marked. Big Wave Bay is an interesting finishing point

Great trail for a weekday afternoon; but crazy busy at the weekend.

Nice walk with great views. Went on a Saturday and was quite busy. Would recommend the high junk peak track over this one for views and lack of people.

amazing trek. fabulous views all along the way

Breath taking views. Great hike, not a hard trail.

Amazing views-great trail. A must when in Hong Kong!

good hike with awesome views of shek-o and big wave bays. Avoid Sunday if you don't like crowds.

The maintenance of the trail is also good. Because bus stop is near, and there are many flights of bus, it is convenient. You should be able to run while enjoying the scenery.

Great views and a perfect introduction to HK if you just got here or are visiting. You can keep going to big wave bay for a dip after the hike. However, if you are looking for a challenge, that is definitely not be the right hike.

Great hike, good views, bring a swim suit. A dip in the bay is an amazing way to cool off after the hike. There is a designated changing area. If not in a hurry to get to Big Wave Bay I would suggest not taking the first path to the beach. Instead of taking the first path to the “right” continue on and in another 10 mins or so is another path that will take you to the beach. More great views and it leads to 3000 year old (allegedly) rock carvings.

Fabulous views ending on lovely beach

The trail is amazing and provides beautiful views over the open sea to the east and island views to the west. At the end of the trail, walk down to and visit the village of Shek-O and have a meal at the restaurant close to the beach. The trail is not strenuous and can easily be completed with normal fitness in a couple of hours.
