This is easily one of my favorite hikes I’ve ever done. For reference, I am an avid hiker/climber and don’t mind heights. Beware there are large drop offs and if heights aren’t your thing, this hike (past the 1st peak) probably isn’t your thing either. Getting to the 1st peak is fairly easy, just gaining some altitude and you get a great view from there. Moving to the 2nd and 3rd peak gets technical. There are ropes in all/most of the necessary parts. No one really knows how long they’ve been there so be sure to check they aren’t wearing away on sharp rock edges. I’m not big on safety but this hike is not exactly the safest and definitely is not safe in the rain as the rocks become extremely slick. Myself and another experienced hiker went all the way to the 3rd peak and he slipped on the way back. Had there not been a rope to catch himself, I doubt he would’ve survived the fall. Just know what you’re getting yourself into! At a fairly slow pace with a lengthy stop at the 3rd peak it took just under 6 hours from where I parked (along the street a couple blocks from the golf course entrance road) and back.

Park across from the first bus stop on Auloa. Stay to the right of the spray painted line. No worries. It rained the night before so it was slippery on the way up. I don’t hike a lot but I’m in shape so it wasn’t hard getting to the first peak. I wore tennis shoes my friend wore vans. The rope sections are fun but not for the faint of heart. If you have any aversion to heights you will not enjoy. The second and third peaks look gnarly and I doubt id try. The view from the first peak is worth it. Skip chatting with the guard. The trail starts .5 mile past the guard shack , on the left side of the road. It took us 1 hr 10 mins to get to the top of the first peak.

Google “Olomana deaths” just so you know that it’s is no joke. Though the rocks on this hike are pretty solid, they’re not reliable for single handholds/footholds. The ropes are not regularly checked or changed. It’s okay to use the ropes to help, but never put all your weight on them. Don’t be fooled by the short mileage, this hike takes most in shape hikers 5hrs (roundtrip from trailhead to 3rd peak). The heat can be intense, and there are some vertigo inducing scrambles and climbing sections near the top of the 1st and beyond. Park and act respectfully in the neighborhood, hopefully you don’t get towed like others. @niiimz_

One of favorite and also the toughest (due to heavy rains). Take good gloves Parked in the parking area of a park/garden.

Park around the corner where you will see cars park on the curb. I did all 3 peaks, hella elevation gains in short distance. Take your time and don’t rush your climbs.

First, this hike is awesome. Loved it and highly recommend. 2* due to all 4 cars parked near us towed. $220 + $50 Uber ride = $270 hike. I drove around for 10 minutes reading signs, asked a local city parks employee where to park, got bad beta. No signs where I got towed. Golf club has a deal with Ace Towing. Most irritating issue was spending 2hrs getting my car back. But the hike really is awesome. Wish I had dropped my family off and just come back later to pick them up.

Our car was towed along with 3 other’s hiker’s cars. After a $30 Uber ride to pick it up and $220 I tell you don’t go because even though we parked almos 1 mile away since there were signs everywhere. The one place there was no sign, we all parked and were towed. It’s a hoax for the golf course and tow company to get money

Very challenging and scary at times. Ropes and branches are available to help climb- climbing straight up at times. Worth the view. My favorite hike in Oahu

This is the 22nd trail I have hiked in 2 weeks, and it has been my absolute favorite (Ka’au Crater close 2nd if not a tie). If you hike all 3 peaks, it is a pretty fantastic challenge for all but seasoned veteran hikers. We completed this adventure in about 4.5 hours, spending about 30 min enjoying the views from each peak. The trail is well worn and easy to follow. I brought 30 ounces of water and wish I had more. Some of the repelling ropes were beginning to fray, but they were all reliable as of today. Don’t underestimate this hike, you are gaining or losing steep elevation almost every step of the way, but it is incredibly rewarding. 100% not for dogs, children, or trail running.
