Description
A natural space at the gates of the great Parisian agglomeration, the Chevreuse Valley, the Yvelines forest and the Hurepoix plateaus remain among the most remarkable rural and forest areas of Île-de-France. Geology and hydrology create an alternation of silty and clayey plateaus and rugged valleys at the origin of springs, wet meadows, ponds, rivers, ponds, alluvial forests, reed beds, and peat bogs ... This territory forged for centuries of agriculture, forestry and royal traditions has kept its authentic rural character. The landscapes are marked from the Middle Ages by the presence of influential lords and princes who signify their power by their large emblematic domains and abbeys. They bequeath a completely exceptional cultural heritage, made of castles, manors, parks and gardens, hunting estates, churches and chapels, mills and farms which today offer magnificent evidence of medieval and modern times.
