HikingGreat!

Nice trail with some great, far reaching views at the beginning. Mixture of terrain with some (limited) roads which were very quiet. Will do again when the pub is open!

Very steep long hill to start, but fantastic views at the top and plenty of room for the dog to run around.

Lovely walk, some slightly longer grassy areas which is to be expected, given the heat we decided to reverse the walk and had a nice shady way home through the woods. Definitely recommend

Quite a lot of road sections for a mountain biking trail, the bits in the wood were pretty fun, but didn't last long and weren't technical enough for my liking. The woods are worth exploring though as it looks like theres more fun hidden away.

Lovely peaceful walk with some great views and lots of butterflies. Will have a few muddy bits in the winter but the rest will be fine underfoot. Got slightly lost on 2nd to last waypoint directions but followed the map and got back on track quickly.

WalkingGreat!

Great walk up Beacon Hill. It really should only be done during the summer months as when wet it is going to be very slippery due to the severity of the slope. At the top you have a wonderful panorama of the Hampshire countryside. The hill was the site of an iron age hill fort and also has the grave of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon who with Howard Carter discovered the tomb of of Tutankhamun. Very short walk but very steep climb to top. Good parking is available at foot of walk.

This is a nice walk but nothing like the route published. It is not possible to cover the northern loop of the trail next to Milford Lake as this is marked all private. This is private land and the path is permissive not a public right of way the landowner controls the direction of the path making it impossible to complete. It is only open during July and August and parking is not available except for the road verge. Apart from all this it was a very pleasant walk with views of the Temple of Diana in Highclere Park.

Nice, easy walk. Only got lost once which is good for me. I would second parking at Snelsmore as there is lots of parking and you have the option to extend the walk either way.

Great walk until midway and the route becomes overgrown and unwalkable - had to go over barbed fence to carry on!

Good walk however too much road work on busy roads and one section without a pavement. The woodland sections were good and even saw a muntjac deer feeding. I think the route could be greatly improved by using more of the woodland paths available.

Steep incline at start of walk. Nice variety between woodland, field and quiet roads. Lots of other footpaths and all in good condition but some bits a bit muddy even after all the dry weather

So unfortunately the part of the trail where we turned around is not a footpath. Turned away by gamekeeper

Lovely walk however circa half way round the wood has changed owners and it has been fenced off, cannot complete the walk any longer as expected in the instructions

A busy start when beginning with the castle, lots of kids about. But after about 45 minutes it quietened down and was peaceful. Not as many birds as I’d hoped as there were a lot of shooting noises. Saw some cute horses along the way.

Great Castle, not particularly welcoming signs all over the start/end village, noisy over a34 twice, ok but wouldn’t rush to do it again. But my husband said he’d try again after lockdown when the pub at the end is open!

Great views around the walk, also nice to be able to see where you have walked to from a distance. Good variety with fields, tracks, hedgerows and forests. Given 3 stars as lots of the paths are uneven under foot and narrow so we couldn’t walk next to each other.
