Trail was a bit slippery. Freezing cold on top of the mountain. Bring rain gear, warm stuff and gloves! Tough hike all around but very enjoyable.

Absolutely beautiful views, full of beautiful flowers and wildlife if you're quiet enough. The hardest part is the very steep beginning, after that, moderate difficulty.

We did it with our family in June with our children aged 10 and 14 and we loved it. It must be done in the morning because less clouds. We saw 3 quetzals! The trails are beautiful, rocky and sloping but great vegetation and views of the river and several waterfalls. A favorite.

We hiked in a cloud! Wet but cool. A decent bit of up and down. Some very narrow spots with steep drop offs. Beautiful views of the forests, river, waterfalls, and valleys. Lots of birds, flowering trees. Very well signed. We did this hike with our ten and eleven year old daughters. The beginning is quite steep and was almost too much for them, but they hung on and loved it.

Best hiking in Costa Rica. This preserve has many trail options, beautiful waterfalls, wildlife, and solitude. The views are to die for. Make sure you bring a lot of water as it gets steep quick and is quite humid. Favorite trails are in this park!

this was the hardest trail I have done but it was so worth it for the views and wildlife. it took me 11hrs to get to the top and 7 to get down. I split it in 2 days. we did it the first week of may which is officially rainy season in Costa Rica but the weather was beautiful both days I was on the mountain. the forecast changes minute by minute so dont let that deter you from doing it or over packing as we did.

Complete the round trip in one day, total 42km and 3000m of d +, we left the morning at 5:45 am and return in the evening just before darkness 18:00! A beautiful 12h of effort, we walked quickly 3.5km / h without really taking time off. There are two points where you can get supplies (water / toilet / food / liquor), the first at 7km and the second at 14.5km. It was very hot do not forget sunscreen and cap! Great trail, very well maintained and great views !!

So...read my other review to Base Crestones. If you’ve made it that far, you have to go the rest of the way. It’s all a challenge but well worth it.

Not your normal CR adventure but well worth the effort. Think Kilimanjaro of Central America. You travel steeply through 5 microclimates, and it’s hard if you’re not a seasoned hiker. Views at the finale are spectacular. Most people base camp but I suppose you could do this in one day.

Very hard the last 2 km, but they are worth it. I went with very heavy rain, so bring impermeable jackets. Don't forget impermeable gloves. Don't hesitate just go forward

Extreme difficult for a beginner, but worth the struggles in order to reach the peak during a storm. The trail was washed out from the storm. 14 hours up and 11 hours down, with an overnight stay at base-camp. I'd do it again.
