Description

As a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Qingchengshan is known to be the birthplace of Taoism. Hike along the many Taoists and Buddhist temples as you head towards the peak. Check out the ancient temples and make sure to look at the wonderful views of the Chengdu Plains. This park is mysterious with its misty forest, bamboo landscapes, and waterfalls. Due to its location, it is subject to rain and fog. While in Dujiangyan, make sure to also stop by the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, which has the ability to control river flooding without the use of dams.

Qingcheng is a very heavily trafficked climb up a wide footpath that has manmade stairs. It is a moderate climb that takes you past Daoist and Buddhist shrines and temples. It is one of China's sacred Daoist mountains so it is worth the climb just in light of that, but it is not for those seeking the solitude and beauty of a virgin forest mountain hike. It is a protected park that costs 110 RMB to enter. Show more
