Description

Cerro Castillo National Park is located in the Aysén region. Formerly a national reserve, it became a national park in 2018. As its name suggests, the park was established around Cerro Castillo, the highest mountain in the park. Its mountainous landscape combined with native forests is the impressive habitat of a great variety of flora and fauna such as condors, huemules, pumas, etc. The Travesía de la Horqueta is the most popular route as it covers around 54 km from the park, also offering shorter trails and viewpoints. It has mountain refuges, numerous established camping sites and promotes the "No Deje Rastro" (Leave No Trace) campaign that supports the initiative to minimize the impact on nature produced by people's visits.
