My girlfriend and I hiked this trail in early October. We’re experienced hikers in decent shape but still found this trail pretty strenuous. A lot of breaks necessary to catch your breath as you make the ascent on muddy, steep ground. Well worth the effort, the views at the top are phenomenal, especially near peak-color. If you’re lucky, you might see a bald eagle like us! The stop at the lake is tranquil and welcome after the arduous trek that preceded it. We saw only a few others on the trail, otherwise we were alone. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good challenge in the area.

Trail goes along the river bank for the most part. Very interesting sights. Lots of water and lots of falls. At about the 3K mark there is a camp site so would be a great starter for backcountry camping.

I would say this is more difficult than moderate. Absolutely breathtaking and much worth the work.

Hands down in my top 10 trails of all time. Beautiful diversity on the trail, stunning panoramics.... if you know where to look :)

The views from this trail are absolutely spectacular - no doubt. I especially enjoyed the second and third viewpoints. The trail itself going up was definitely difficult but easy to follow and well groomed. On the other hand, once you pass the final viewpoint, the trail becomes difficult to navigate without a map. There are blue placards to mark the trail but unfortunately the trail is so overgrown at this point in the season, it’s very difficult to tell what is the trail and what isn’t. I inadvertently went off the trail several times and didn’t know how to get back to it without using my AllTrails app. Also you’ll be hiking along a stream and turning several blind corners so always be on the lookout for bears. Once you get past the final stream crossing and start heading west again toward the parking area, it becomes a lot easier. If you’re in decent shape, budget about 2 1/2 hours to the top and another 1 1/2 hours down. 3-5 hours is a good estimate on the time it should take most people to do this trail. I would have rated this 5 stars if it was a little better maintained. The views at the top are absolutely worth it it the hike down is without a doubt very dicey.

Really fun trail. Definitely tougher on the way up but beautiful views when you get there. Trail is very well marked, although we did miss one creek crossing. Our dog enjoyed the hike as well. We did it in about 4 hours including a lunch break and stops to enjoy the views.

If you want a rewarding hike, put this trail on your list. Beautiful lookouts of Lake Superior and nice access points to the waterfalls. Footing was pretty consistent overall. Lots of exposed tree roots - so be careful on steep incline and declines. One of the lookouts required climbing some rocks uphill, but certainly worth it! Lake Superior beach access was awesome and perfectly timed. Trail was well marked and was pretty quiet too. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend this trail! Scenic lookouts were spectacular and were easily accessible. In regards to the hike itself, the footing [at start of trail] was a little tricky due large rock-piles but eases up as trail continues. Rocks can be slippery so wear appropriate shoes. No insect pests around this time. At end of trail, be sure to visit the Old Woman Bay beach - it’s the best way to end a sweaty and well worthwhile hike.

Beautiful fairly rugged trails. Easy to follow the route, some areas a little tricky where there are wet rocks and mud but it provides a nice little challenge. Views of Lake Superior and Orphan Lake are amazing and the falls are fun to explore and even swim!

Did this trail on an overcast rainy day and loved every minute of it. This 8 km hike took us about 3 hours, with brief stops to hydrate and take in the sights. This trail had so much variety - stunning lookouts, the peacefulness of Orphan Lake, the intensity of the coast and Lake Superior, riverside hiking as well as a beautiful waterfall area. The hike had some rocky uphill and downhill stretches thay could be challenging. A well trained dog with trail experience would probably be fine but I don't know I'll be bringing my young dog on this one yet.

This place to me is very breath taking with beauty. I felt like I was in a fairytale garden with all the greenery and rock formations. It was worth the 4 year wait. Keep checking water conditions as they are not always favourable to see the pictographs like the day I went. Still a must see.!!

It was a great hike! Going up was not hard. A bit of rocks and roots to manoeuvre over. There were a few small creeks for the dog to get water and some mud as we just had two days of rain but not an issue. Very nice views of Lake Superior from the top. Going down was fine with a hiking pole - lots of rocks. We did it in a comfortable 1 hour and 45 minutes. Did not have bugs. A few of the leaves were just starting to turn. Would do it again!

We really enjoyed this trail. However, there are some VERY technical sections that I think make this more than a “moderate” trail.

Great trail. It’s a challenging hike on the way up but well worth the views from the lookouts. Trail is really well marked, making it a very easy loop to navigate.

Great hike to enjoy Old Woman Bay from a different point of view from below. The path is beautiful, with several panoramas. Just a passage where a tree had fallen and obstructed the entire passage (you had to slip under the tree) and it was a problem to pass because it was on a slippery rock. There is no particular difficulty and it is done quickly. During the day we could follow Agawa Rocks pictographs, Orphan lake trail and Nokomis trail.

A very demanding walk. Did the trail in 3 hrs with a lunch stop. Spectacular view of Lake SUperior, Agawa Bay. Montreal Island and Agawa River. Need to be fit for this trail. A few windfall over trail.
