My favourite trail of the 3 main scenic trails in Killbear. Shield rock, a view, trail interpretation guides (some sign posts need a bit of upkeep though), and it's not too far for small kids. I only don't give it a 5 star as some of the trails in Kilarney are even more spectacular by comparison. Really easy to hike if you are at the Blind Bay campground next door.

A solid trail scrambling over lots of rocks until you get a scenic shot of the bay with a lighthouse. Not as "shieldy" as Twin Points trail, but less crowded.

This trail has the potential to be a great short trail but is ruined a bit by the high number of visitors and the boats moored in the harbour (just getting rid of the boats ruining the peaceful scenery would raise the trail by a point). The signposts are a bit run down too, like all those in Killbear. On the plus side, lots of walking over Canadian Shield and also we saw deer and a Massasauga rattlesnake.

We did the short hike to Lookout point. Wonderful walk through the the woods to a spectacular high point looking out over the Bay. 90 minutes return. Picnic benches at the point for a great lunch and perfect view.
