Explore the most popular Bird Watching trails in Awenda Provincial Park with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

A well signed trail on which you can really appreciate a wooded environment. The connecting trails allow you to jump from one to another. The Bluff (10km) runs through a few campsites too which provides a great opportunity for those staying. Very well maintained. I just found this today and will be revisiting.

I was misled by another persons comment on here saying that dogs are allowed on the Awenda Beach Trail. They are only allowed on a very small portion of the trail that is close to the dog beach. We had travelled a good distance to get to the Awenda provincial park and decided to do the Wendat Trail instead with our dogs. It’s a 4 km loop around lake wendat. If we were to go again we would do the Wendat Trail and then bring the dogs down to the dog beach.

I brought my husky on this trail and he loved it. We were out for 75 minutes and only saw 3 other people which was nice. Beautiful waster view. I will be back.

Easy trail. Lovely walk. Not too buggy with a move breeze. I had it to myself.

Relaxing trail to wander with some hills at the midway point. Otherwise, very easy to navigate and hike. This is a popular trail for dog owners, be warned many dogs are off leash in case you are hiking with young children. Look out for plenty of fungi, wildflowers and wildlife markings.

If the posted length of the trail seems intimidating, you can park closer to the lake and hike 2 km in and back. Lots of beautiful shoreline to enjoy & a very easy trail overall. Only complaint was the amount of trash we found ourselves collecting, yet there were plenty of garbage bins along the way.

Gorgeous. Would be even more so in the fall! Easy, and would highly recommend!

Very easy, kid and dog friendly. There’s a dog beach past beach 1.

Several trails, all great and different.

Lovely hike around the lake, did it in mid October when leaves were changing at it was beautiful, a little damp, but worth it. Lots of roots on the trail so need to be cautious, but overall a nice easy experience.

Beautiful day for a walk. Some tripping hazards with all the roots that poke through the ground. Overall, nice family trail.

Very well maintained, it is a loop not an straight in and out. Very easy hike. Not a lot of views while the leaves are in the trees but the views would be excellent in the winter if you were skiing the trail

Was a nice trail easy enough for the kids to walk it. Although you couldn’t see the lake much in the summer was still beautiful

Wide, flat and well maintained trails for an easy hike but no views from the actual trail.

It just happened to be free Provincial Park day! We had a great walk around the lake. The trail was mostly level. Watch out for the big tree roots!

Beautiful trail, especially for naturalist or bird watchers. A great variety of wetland, lakeshore to forested areas included.

Very easy level hike, stopped at all the beaches (4). Went into the water a little at the first beach and it was warm (beginning of August) and very clear. Not overly crowded, although it was a Thursday.
