McNabs Island is the larger of two islands located in McNabs and Lawlor Island provincial Park, in the harbour between Halifax and Dartmouth. The island is 5km long and about 1.5km wide and offers historical and natural features, as well as educational and recreational opportunities. The main consideration when visiting McNabs is the necessity to arrive by either commercial or private boat. The island offers numerous hiking trails, and visitors can spend the night if they call the DNR site in Waverley for a permit.
