Enjoyable hike with amazing views. Saw a cow moose too. It is a must do if you are on Cape Breton Island

Agree with all the other reviews - great trail, spectacular views. My second favourite walk in the Cape Breton park!

If you want a short walk round the lake, this is fine. However, trail from lake to cove is completely blocked by multiple fallen trees around the 1.9 km mark (from start) with no obvious way round. Which is a shame as I was quite enjoying the trail.

Lovely hike to a lovely waterfall. Nice and short, does what it says on the tin. Camping/ picnic area a great spot for lunch.

Hiked here on a gorgeous September morning. Top tip - even in September, arrive early. Just after 8 we had the boardwalk to ourselves to watch the porpoises and pilot whales have breakfast. Bring your binoculars!

We went from the Jack Pine parking lot south end and got great rock views pretty much right away, including a neat cove with whirlpool like waves. Later you join up with the Coastal Trail which is wonderfully varied- long rock coast which is fun to scramble over (mostly easy but can stay on the trail); popping out of woods for neat views; crossing “cobblestone” beaches (2 somewhat long; tiring for my wife -the stones are rather big). Two km from the end you pop out at a long sandy beach leading to Neil’s Harbor in the distance. If you want less overall distance, I’d recommend turning back there, since the last two km are thru the woods with nothing to see. On the return trip it’s easy to get on one of the longer of the Jack Pine half loops and add 10-15 more minutes, but it wasn’t bad (thru the forest with interpretive signs). Best Cape Breton hike of our trip.

Loved the walk along alone Sheiling! Very serene with a babbling brook running in the lower portion of the walk.

An easy trail with great views. The trail can be quite busy as it is close to the park entrance. Even so, there are sections where you will still experience the “alone in the wilderness” vibe. The trail is mostly flat with a few inclines and declines. I wore hiking boots but you could easily do it in sneakers or birkenstocks and you would be fine.

Nice little hike. We did several of these on our down days.

This was a beautiful hike with stunning views. All uphill if you keep to the left. If you go right, it’s easier going but you will punish your knees on the decent. If you’re an occasional hiker this trail isn’t for you.
Again, loved every step.
Note. Trail ended up at 10.9km all said and done.
Loved it!

Easy trek. Beautiful views. Unable to get to the very end due to high winds. Loved every step.

Easy hike for those’s that are sure footed. Beautiful views and an informative trail.

Fun hike through forests and around the point which opens up to a great sea view. Be sure to take the wide loop upon return to get a break from other hikers.

This is a walking trail, not hiking. It’s a beautiful walk. GO EARLY! Gets very crowded. We were there by 8:00 and there were only 3 other cars. When we finished at 10:30 the parking lot was full. Please pick your trash up, especially cigarette butts! Gees!!

A great trail! We started up on the western trail, which is a little steeper. But completely doable. Of course we saw tons of other hikers, but we had a number of nice chats when we stopped to rest, usually at the scenic overlooks. We were able to see all the destruction caused by the moose, as well as the very different areas of the forrest. We very much enjoyed the views of the coast, and the stroll along the creek.

Absolutely amazing!!!

This will become one of the premier hikes in the park!

We can not explain how surprised and amazed we were when we reached the summit. The trail is in the process of some major improvements. The original trail was probably a road (from a hundred years ago) straight and boring. The new trail is full of twists and turns, some viewing areas and crushed granite has been added to about half of the trail. The last half is a bit more rustic and just as enjoyable (and looks like it will receive the same upgrade soon).

We found a TON of blueberries that were super yummy! We enjoyed the creeks that all have nice new bridges. We were the only people on the trail which was an amazing way to connect with nature and, we saw tons of moose tracks.

The cache container is new and in perfect condition.

Thank you for this amazing adventure!!

Loved the diversity of this trail! Nice climb with beautiful views on the way up, and a beautiful brook side walk on the way down. Loved the moss-covered rocks in the brook. So peaceful!

Beautiful! Great loop. Love the board walk down.

unbelievable

Wonderful trail with steep rugged sections and some narrow sections. fantastic view at the end.

Amazing! Sad to see visitors trespassing on the areas clearly marked as no go zones. Pleased to see authorities tracking down violators. Remember it’s not all about you, it’s about appreciating and preserving nature.

Nice cold pool to dip your feet in at the base of the pretty waterfall. Worth the short hike.

The lookout is unbelievable. Trail is very accessible to all.

Nice quick trail at end of day. We completed this one after a late dinner to work off my large fish and chip plate.

The fork was open to both directions on Monday morning and was able to do the loop. Saw a mother and baby moose about a km into the walk, roughly 100 feet from the trail, and another larger female moose on the way back to the lot from the Skyline look-off - she was much closer, maybe 20 feet from the boardwalk. Amazing trail, and relatively easy - I’d call it a walking trail as opposed to a hiking one. Very well groomed and wide.
