Great late morning hike. Trail wasn’t over grown for the park being closed. Wide trail in most spots, great for big groups or bringing your dog. Also no worries of ticks due to being so wide. Lake is a great spot to rest if needed. Mosquito are extremely bad this year, bring tons of bug spray and don’t wear tight clothing. Besides that, great trail.

So we tried to complete this trail starting from the left side, but it was completely flooded about 1 km in. We turned around and tried it from the right side, and again it was flooded about 1 km in. Very disappointing, but what little we did see was quite pretty. We’ll have to come back and try it again sometime.

Pretty trail, but hard to enjoy bc the mosquitos are out of control! I go hiking around Manitoba quite frequently so I’m used to bugs, but wow I’ve never seen them this bad, and I was completely doused in bug spray. On the plus side, I didn’t see any ticks and I’m very happy that the park is open again (with social distancing measures in place).

Hiked this last July and found it to be a bit overgrown! I wished I would have had longer pants on. The views were few but nice when they came around (half way through the trail). There were a couple flat rocks to sit on and have a sandwich, and two nice chairs at the highest point to get you ready for the rest.

Go check out the northern campsites but then go back to the Jet trail. The northern trail is overgrown and has not been maintained for 3 years. Walked 40km one day because we had to turn around and evened up walking through a side of a beaver dam and bears den

Hiked it today. Nice and clear, firm underfoot. Lovely easy walking. Nice that you can choose from 2 different loops, and about 5 different trails from the same parking lot with another one just across the road

Lovely trail but should be moderate. Good for hiking or snowshoeing. Go left first or the scramble back up the hill is pretty hard going. Along the side of the bead lakes is beautiful. I feel you see prettier scenery if you take the left fork, other way round the best views are behind you

Hit this trail with snowshoes on New Years Day. If you go left at the beginning, it starts out fairly easy and then gains difficulty degree as you go, about half way. Scenery changes from edge of lake to forest, it’s actually awesome. Even a place to sit down half way after climbing a steep hill. This was demanding in the snow on snowshoes. I’m sure in the summer on foot it’s much different and less taxing. The views were great. I’m sure they’re even better when the lake isn’t frozen and covered in snow. Took us about 3 hours, 9.7km the watch tracked. Path was beaten down in the snow, it was perfect the whole way.

Very nice trail. Lots of deadfall and the snow is quite deep making it more of a moderate trail due to conditions. I snowshoed the long loop and really enjoyed Kinosao Lake and the boardwalk. Trekking poles and snowshoes a must. I saw lots of wildlife. Two does, a mink, a fox and wolves heard. Signs of bears still active however I didn’t see any. I’ll be doing this trail again in the warmer months to enjoy the sights a bit more.

Very very deep snow on this trail! I followed it way past the marked trail as I didn’t know where it was. I ended up near the back lake. Very pretty but snowshoes and trekking poles a must. I’m glad I had mine. I did get turned around right, after detouring an extra few kms, and managed to complete the circuit. Great for snowshoes or cross country skiing but too deep for hiking.

Beautiful trail. If you take the right fork through the trail, there’s a lot of uphill sections that are difficult in the snow. Left fork is easier as it’s mostly downhill. I imagine this trail would be rated easy during summer/fall months. I would agree with fellow hikers in the comments about the rating. With the large amount of hills around the lake area, this trail should be rated moderate. Snowshoes and trekking poles a must as the snow is deep in most spots. Some deadfall towards the back.

Great trail. I went back to Grey Owls cabin Sunday October 27th. This distance is further than this app maps out. The full hike is 17.9 km. Very hard and deep snow in spots. A lot of deadfall on the trail past the warmup shack. I was advised not to use my snowshoes yet by the park staff but I wish I took them as I fell through the snow often. Some slippery inclines, trekking poles a must. Saw lots of bear and moose tracks. Overall it is a great trail. Grey Owls cabin is well preserved.

Snowshoes recommended. Some blown down trees from the recent storm to scramble over. 6-8" of snow on the trail. Bears are active, so be prepared.

best trail in terms of scenery. most challenging trail in terms of up hill. was only able to complete it half way from the bottom up. if you start at the top of the hill and work your way down it's easier.

absolutly beautiful in the fall!! nice easy trail with lots of wildlife. going clockwise about 2km in seen a small black bear. lots of bear poop so I would definatly reccomend some bear bells and spray

the wife and I did the gray owl trail today trails were a little wet from the two days of rain out in riding mountain National park. overall a great way to spent the afternoon hiking out to the cabin for lunch then heading back out. we only show moose tracks!

I did part of this trail and it's very nice. be prepared to be at this trail all day if you want to do the whole thing and possibly prepare yourself to even spend the night too. if take the whole thing it leads to other camo grounds in the park

this trail should be changed to moderate it has some pretty steep up hills and down hills. and some parts of the trail are narrow and you need to be aware of your footing especially if it rained. otherwise it's a nice trail
