I would recommend this trail for anyone that wants a nice and easy hike. There is quite a bit of incline and decline on this trail but it is still relatively easy. There are some trees down on the trail but you are able to get around them with ease. Most of the trail is grass and is well-groomed. At the midway point of the trail there is a nice overview of a lake (name unknown) and is a good spot to take a rest! Overall definitely worth the trip to Baldy Mountain, and all the insightful signs on the education of Baldy Mountain!

Probably the best trail in the entire park. You are essentially walking on the side of a lake the entirety of the trail. There are a few rough spots that are wet and have downed trees

Great short trail with great views of the lake and campground. The trailhead is located a few steps into the Blue Lakes trail and is marked by a clear sign alerting you to the starting point.

Easy trail to follow with tons of trail markers. The trail head is a bit difficult to find as there isn't a clear sign. If you are going for just the km this trail is awesome but it lacks any sort of scenic value. There is one "scenic overlook" on Elk Hill just passed the halfway point of the trail but due to the surrounding tree height it is just a hill surrounded by tall trees.

Such a great challenging trail with excellent views. The trail was going under maintenance to clear downed trees but was still doable with a bit of climbing. Can get wet along the shoreline but dry on the loop back.

Nice fast trail with quite a bit of incline. There is a tower at the halfway point of the trail but unfortunately the view from the top is blocked by trees. Most lower star ratings of this trail would probably be attributable to this rather than the actual trail conditions.

This trail is located at the back of some dumping site off the highway. The "trail" was muddy and impossible to pass without getting soaked. The trail on the app is not what the actual cleared out path is and you will get a warning saying you are off the path.

Can get muddy but wide enough that you should be able to avoid it.

Snowshoed the trail. The lookout was a steep incline but very tempting and worth the trek. A bench at the top is a nice resting spot. Hiker trail signs were a welcome sight after a vague open area where wind had covered tracks of previous users.

I’d rate this a 3.5. More of a quad trail than hiking trail. Great if you need an accessible route but not challenging.

Beautiful short trail. Don’t go right after a snow storm like I did or it would rate difficult. Really nice scenery and super accessible.

Easy trail but had a few down trees across the trail beautiful lakes and forestry!

Enjoyed this trail, fairly wide and mowed. Our group of 17 did this on September long wkd - beautiful weather and nice scenery, look out tower was neat. We kept to the shorter loop (minor confusion about arrows on trail as nail wasn't fastening it to tree properly lol)- was somewhat difficult for some of our group as a lot of the trail is "angled" walking and when we went it was a little damp out so it was slick in some areas. Keep in mind we had age range of 5-70 yrs old :) plenty of uphill for our older ppl but we finished in record time.

I really enjoyed this trail!! Thought it was the perfect length! There were like 4 fallen trees but you could easily step over them however on the part of the trail leading towards the lake there were two big trees that had fallen and you had to climb over. I personally think it just added to the adventure tho!

Great variety on the trail. Peat, roots, sand, rock...etc. Great way to check out these two beautiful lakes. The views could have been better. There was a lot of dead fall, but the trails were well maintained. Took about 2 hours at a fairly easy pace.

Fairly well maintained. Grass on the trail was getting long, however you could tell that it was maintained in the not too distant past. There were two fallen trees which made you question where the trail was actually supposed to be. Other than the lookout at the beginning of the trail, the cabin and stable, the trail was...boring.

A real nice run. A lot of roots and rocks, real nice trailing by the water. By far one of the best hikes in the park in terms of variability in trail.

Good lake, poor trail. A fine walk to a lake if thats what your looking for. No parking spot or area at the trail head for parking.

Boring out and back loop on double wide quad path. The view is nice, but the actual hike is boring and closed in. The real treasure is the secluded lake and dock that rarely sees any traffic.

Completed the trail 30 June 2019, well maintained easy hike, lots of great views of two lakes. Took me little less then 2 hours.

Great trail, it seemed like it had just recently been cleared/maintained, as the grass was freshly cut on the trail near the cabins and lookout, and all the big trees that had fallen are now pushed out of the way, creating a beautiful pathway.

The trail was in great condition when I went last August. The old ranger stations along the way were pretty cool too!

Love this trail. Well marked, well groomed and just the right distance for a quick hike. It’s scenic with a few resting benches, can loop into Copernicus trail if you wish.
