Good hike. Pretty easy. We took a detour which made it longer and a tad harder. The view is good from the top.

Very challenging rrail, half of it not well marked. Bring lots of water and food! Beautiful place!

View is spectacular! The trail is not so clean with wet mud and big roots but with the challenge comes the reward. I

Definitely get ready for an incredible hike. The mud made it so much fun. Watch the roots, but I would do this hike over and over. We took the dog and he loved it even on the leash. The shade, the views, the weather made this one of my favorite hikes. Not very busy on a Wednesday morning. Even the drive up was pretty.

Bring bug spray!!

on Mount Seymour Trail

A moderate hike but the amount of bugs and the fact that there is still snow on the trail made it more challenging. We turned around after the first peak due to the unbearable bugs. If you go, I recommend to wear a bug net and long sleeve top and pants.

According to comments from last month, this trail seemed to be great, family doable and fast enough to do it on the afternoon. I’m sure the view really worth it and a few weeks ago we would rate it 5 stars.
But unfortunately, it appeared that this was not the good period to do it since more and more bugs were flying around us and the snow was melting. The path was sometimes so slippy that it could be dangerous, and 400m before arriving to the first peak, people comming back told us the bugs and the slippy path were getting worse. There was so much flies attacking us and we had no snowshoes so we decided to give up before the awesome views... it’s too bad because the trail is so beautiful !
So if you plan to do it in july, better come well prepared for melting snow and maybe begin on the morning so the flies won’t be such a lot !

A very rewarding hike. The trail is still very muddy, with snow still covering a decent sized section of the trail. Wear appropriate footwear! The trail is quite rocky, and covered in roots, so watch your step! The view at the top is stunning, and defiantly worth the hike!

Great hike. Did it today. Not much to add only that when we got out of car at the parking lot, we were attacked by a tons of tiny flies. Thought they might be mosquitoes at first but fortunately not. Don’t let it deter you as once we passed the info shed to start the hike, they all dissipated..

We walked Dog Mountain today. There was a bit of snow at some places and a bit cloudy. When we got to the top we had a view. It was a nice day.

We went this morning. I recommend grippy shoes that you’re not afraid to get dirty, nice and muddy!

Thought this hike was going to be really easy but was surprised by how challenging it was due to snow still being on the trail in mid June. Good hiking boots are required. It has a. Ice mix of ups and downs with no real tough sections. One of the area’s best “Bang for your buck” hikes when you consider the reward.

A little snowy around the base but great views up top and no snow.

Fun to hike. Lots of roots, rocks and some snow. Slippery in some parts. Hiking boots highly recommended. Many parts are quite muddy so your footwear will get wet. Summer trail is now open. Beautiful scenery on top of vancouver and the ocean.

This hike was beautiful, but when I read about it, it seemed easier than it turned out to be. At the end of May, the trail was still almost entirely snow covered (aside from when you get closer to the summit). There were parts of the trail that required scrambling up rocks (but pretty easy scrambling).

Had it not been for a friendly fellow hiker at the beginning of the trail, we likely would not have made it to the summit because the summer Dog Mountain trail around the first lake was closed, so we had to take the winter Dog Mountain trail. The friendly fellow hiker made a mistake when trying to take the winter trail and accidentally hiked Mount Seymour instead of Dog Mountain, so we made sure to cut back around the first lake as opposed to go up Mount Seymour.

The view from the Dog Mountain summit was really beautiful, but I think we were fairly lucky that it ended up being clear outside. I would definitely recommend this trail to others, but I suspect it's easier and more enjoyable later in the summer instead of late spring.

Did this hike today. Took three hours but rested for 30 min at the top. The trail crossing the bridge at first lake is closed so you’d have to go around the long way. Found this hike easier somehow with the snow as the cold air helps keep your temperature down but very wet. Highly recommend hiking shoes for the snow. It’ll be very easy to get your runners soaked !

This trail is great when there is no snow! Quite easy yet fun. Maybe takes like 2 hours. There is a loop that takes you to Mystery Lake.
It is Mid May now and there is still quite a bit of snow- so it is hard to hike here. However if u drive down a bit, on the way back you will see a lot of little trails that are amazing- almost no snow there :) enjoy!
4 most recent photos of roots that I posted are from the trail further down

Did this hike yesterday and I was not prepared for how much snow there was! The entire trail is covered in deep snow so I would suggest bringing appropriate shoes. The dog mountain “summer trail” was closed so we were unable to get to the top. Instead we did the winter trail which was still nice but no view. We passed the first lake but that was about it. Will have to wait until more summer months to do the summer trail.

Great hike, but very busy trail

Went up today April 22 in crampons. Not busy at all, surprisingly for a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We had the peaks all to ourselves, saw a dozen people earlier in the trail and a couple people during the later parts of the trail. Gorgeous views, good workout but not super challenging, and very fun and safe slideable parts where I used a durable jacket as a sled.

What a beautiful trail. Well marked path with lots of people using the trail. Not long but the top is amazing would definitely go again in the summer

Great payoff for a very easy and short hike with minimal incline. Did it with crampons mid January

Busy trail but beautiful hike through the forest. Tolerated very well with hiking shoes for walking and running. Some icy areas at the last 300m stretch before the view. Individuals with snowshoes needed to remove them around this last stretch due to icy inclines

Easy enough to do with hiking boots and yaktrax as the trail is very packed down. A little too busy for my liking but worth the view!
