I've done this trail several times and am always pleased with the beautiful views. However today I went with two others and we ran into a HUGE bear on our way back- not 10 feet from us as we turned a corner. Be careful out there!

Tried to make it to the High Knoll but a bear cub near the viewpoint changed my mind for me.

I am planning to go on Monday, do you have any annoying flies during the trial to Munroe Lake?

We hike this trail yesterday, it’s an upper climb for at least an hour and a half to two hours depending on your pace. We didn’t find it muddy as it is summer and has been hot for a few days you do however will find some swampy patches approaching the lake. Be mindful of your steps, there are lots of miniature size little frogs as you climb. Bring poles as the descending can be hard on your knees. The trail has lots of shade but if you are doing this trail for the view you’ll find none. Great hike overall.

Didn’t make it far but it was pretty sweet to check out the creek.

I hiked the trail this morning and wanted to go out to the Addington look out however there were two huge bears before I can get to the end. I diligently turned around and went into the opposite direction But kept looking back to make sure I wasn’t being followed. This was my first encounter with a bear.

A hard grind to the lake. Flattens out near the top with a short decent into the bowl where the lake is. Under 2 1/2 hours to the lake

Easy, quick hike — about an hour and twenty minutes — with descent elevation. Try the Quary Trail in the way out. Trails are well marked and maintained.

We try to do a hike/run like this every week. The trail isn’t as steep as the Abby Grind or the Dewdney Grind but it does get you up almost 900M which is high if you’re not in shape. The conditions in the upper half are quite muddy and wet and we almost turned around immediately at the lake and came back due to flies and mosquitos Lots of spots are like running in river bed or swamp. Lots of ripe wild berries and beautiful wild flowers right now. Up and down in 3:20 with very little resting today.

Very busy today due to the long weekend. The parking lot was full and street parking on both sides of the road for about 100m each way. Hundreds of little toads on the trail, be cautious, they are everywhere. Did not see the bear, although others did. There was fresh scat on both the high and low trail so it's around. A big group of people carrying in bags of unsealed food I'm assuming for a picnic. Stay away from them if you don't want to see the bear.

Nice accessible trail. The High Knoll has unexpectedly nice views! The marsh is a very unique place with so much wildlife. Please be aware that there are lots of bears in the area. These bear are very used to humans and they won't try to avoid you. Please give them space and leash the dogs if you see them. Lots of tiny toads on the trails!!! It was so hard trying to avoid stepping on them because they were everywhere!

A very accessible park, there is little elevation gain, mostly on the way to the high knoll viewpoint. There are nice views from the lookouts, but access to them can be a bit tricky with all the tree roots on the path. There are several trails in the park, so you could spend the best part of a day hiking the park. The is also a picnic area close from the parking lot, if you just want to enjoy a bite in the park. There is plenty of fauna, we saw bears, falcons, a heron, squirrels, frogs and plenty of mosquitos, so be warned to wear long sleeves and trousers if you are a mosquito delicacy.

I have a knee problem so I needed walking sticks, the trail was manageable with average incline, though there were rocks and roots. I'd skip both lookouts since I don't think it's worth the efforts :) At the second lookout I only saw obstructed view of the marshes below. I'd try to get to the marshes earlier before it gets too hot. It's beautiful. We saw a blue heron hunting for fish and heard a choir of frogs. Beware of the mosquitoes if you come early morning. I brought home several nasty bites.

The hike to Munro Lake is BRUTAL!!!!! The elevation is intense and coming back down kills your knees. Beware. The lake is more like a marsh

Date: 2019MAY25 Weather: Raining Uphill: 2.5 hours Downhill: 3 hours Lunch: 0.5 hours Saw a black bear went across Quarry road into the trail head before we started the hike. Lake was not frozen but there were still some shallow snow around the lake. Not much view up there because of the fog. I do not recommend going there on a rainy day. It was muddy and slippery everywhere. If you happen to go there on a rainy, bring trekking poles. Most importantly, be bear aware. We brought bear spray with us to this trail.

This was an awesome trail for the scout troop that I took for our JOTT (jamboree on the trail). Had a blast great conditions the if the hike. It’s a popular trail and it got crowded at the top of High Knoll.
