This is not a trail... it’s dumb... someone clearly aimlessly walked around with their map on. No trail after the initial 500m. Also no parking. Lol it’s terrible 0/5 stars

Gorgeous hike! Beautiful views over Kamloops and the lake. Great to see a train passing by. Really steep at the end, but perfectly doable

This was a great hike on a beautiful day, with lots of gorgeous views. There are some steep parts, and some downhills, so expect to get your heartrate going! We did the extended loop, and got off track a few times due to lack of direction, but got back en route easily. Pay attention to the app, and don't go through any gates. Enjoy!

nice trail, easy to follow and rewarding views at the end! do early in day as there is not a lot of shade.

Easy until you get to climbing the last hill. The last part of the hill is a little bit steep! Nothing too crazy but we went mid day so the sun was the hardest factor to get over. Would recommend doing this hike for an early sunrise or late sunset! So beautiful at the top, 360 views of Kamloops city and Kamloops lake. Had two small dogs and one big dog with us, plus my parents who are over sixty. Hike was cruisey but the heat from the sun exhausted us a bit.

This is a great trail. We took our dog and she did good. It was hot though, I would say bring enough water for you and your fur-friend. The view at the top was beautiful, you can see basically the whole Kamloops lake and Kamloops city. Very panoramic. Cool photo op with a really old rusted out car mid trail. Recommended!

We were in a bit of a hurry today, so we had to rush it. Were able to do the return loop within less than 90 minutes and even had time for some amazing photos. The hike is marvellous and the views are nothing less than just awesome. Highly recommended

I love this hike. Have done it many times. Since a new development went in at the old trail head, there is no parking there. However, the new trailhead is just below it, no worries. You can park there. To get to Deep Lake, you have 2 choices. Start where you parked, or walk up the road about 5 minutes and start at the old trailhead. If you're in good shape and want to get the heart rate pumping right off the hop, start where you parked. It gets steep fast! And stays relatively steep for a kilometer or so. The other route is easier. There is a steep section, but it is not as long. The little lake presents itself to you at the top. You can walk around it in 15-20 minutes, but take your time. There's fish and birds to watch, flowers to appreciate. Often I've seen deer up there. You can do the loop and come back down the trail you chose not to start at. If you're ambitious, you can carry on your hike and follow the Community Grasslands Trail all the way to McQueen Lake! I read it's 13 km away, but I'm pretty sure it's further than that. According to the scale provided at the trail head, it looks closer to 25-28 km one way! Bring lots of water. Another way to extend this hike is to walk halfway around the lake, then find the trail which is on the land side of the lake (not the steeper mountain side) and follow it away from Deep Lake, keeping the lush little valley always on your right. The natural contours of the land and the trail your on will slowly bring you down into that little valley. The trail will bring you around the large hill to your left (it wiil always be on your left) and you will eventually come out near the bottom of the easier of the 2 trails I mentioned in the beginning. Taking this route will add another 40-60 minutes and is well worth it! Enjoy this little gem found right within our city!!

Great hike. As others suggest, I recommend 2 hours round trip so you can enjoy the view. There are a few parts of the trail where the bugs are pretty bad. Make sure to bring bug spray. I went on a Tuesday and had the trail to myself and stayed at the summit for 30 minutes. I was able to watch planes take off, watch the trains near the water line, and see a great view of Kamloops.

Great starter hike for anyone looking to hit up the kamloops trail scene. Very easy family friendly with a gorgeous view of the river and if your lucky a great opportunity to catch the train for some great photos as it leaves or enters the city. A must do hike for sure

Pretty simple and easy trail, wouldn't rate it as moderate (the park rates it as easy). Still a decent time. No mosquitos this time of year (early may).

Done this hike twice and think it is great. Love the diverse communities it offers. Recommend it.

Lovely hike! It took two hours in total with 15 minutes spent at the top admiring the view and plenty of brief stops along the way to watch the ram and the deer. My dog is very active and is a climber so he didn't have any issues navigating the steeper rocky parts and there were many dogs along the trail as well. But there are stepper parts towards the very top so keep this in mind and remember water for both you and your dog!

Fantastic hike to a beautiful view. quite steep near the end but worth every step. Be sure to sign the log book at the carin. Take in the view before trekking back down.

Write in the book at the top, hidden in the rocks.

Gorgeous hike, really poorly marked. We ended up having to back track at one point so we had to keep checking our GPS. I guess at the top of the hill we ended up off the path and got tapped behind a barbed wire fence, not sure why that was there. Sorta takes the fun out when you really have no idea where you’re going, the views were beautiful though!

This was a great hike with an absolutely gorgeous view when you make it to the top! I’m from Manitoba so I’m used to the prairies and this hike got my heart pumping for sure! I passed 3 other people who also were breathing pretty heavy too. The roads coming into the trail start were quite muddy after rain the previous day but my little Ford Fiesta didn’t have any trouble except getting dirty. I would give yourself 2 hours to get in and out so you aren’t rushing and you can spend some time at the top! I might go and do this one again while I’m in town, I felt so peaceful sitting at the top!

Very nice, easy trail through rolling grasslands. We joined onto this trail at Deep Lake. Nice views all the way.
