Really nice little hike to start off the season. Fairly flat, nice tree cover, trail quite muddy and flooded in a few spots. We saw some bear tracks in the mud. Took the fork down to the Lower Waterton Lake to eat our lunch on the shore. Next time we’ll bring our bikes and go further to Vimy Peak.

Hiked last summer(2019) and it quickly became one of my favourite hikes! A long sleeve was needed when having lunch at the lake. Some people were jumping off rocks into the freezing cold water - which would have been awesome but I was way too cold

We took the private boat, definitely worth it, I think we clocked well over 18km after the summit and the hike back to our boat drop off/pick up spot ! Beautiful views up top!

Best hike you can do in Waterton. First couple of km are even possible to do on a bike. Views from the summit are excellent!

Went in August of 2019 and one of my favourite hikes. We went out on the first boat in the morning and the first one back as well! Some amazing views of waterton Lake as well as the canyon waterfalls. We were one of the first ones to make it to the lake up top for lunch and some relaxing! Tons of people who went up also went swimming in the water - but it's very cold! You start off with a group of people which I didn't exactly like but you quickly find that everyone goes at their own pace and after a bit you won't be seeing anyone until you hit the top. Cool cave to climb through with ladders and amazing sites! Definitely recommend! Saw a lot of kids doing it too, maybe around 12 years old? Either way, definitely head out there with some comfy shoes and a nice lunch :)

One of my favorite hikes. A quick, steep hike up to the top for tremendous views!

challeging hike. part of it is unmarked, so you have to be really mindful of where you are. parts of it are narrow with lose rocks, and elevation makes it challanging. weather elements could be hindering (wind, snowy patches, often rain...). the last part (last 5 or so km) is flat, but could be quite hard at the end of a long day (it gets boring and when you're tired, you just want it to end, so the importance of good company and comfortable shoes cannot be stressed enough). the views are incredible, the hike is fun as much as it's challenging. the scenery changes often, and for any avid hiker, challenge us what makes a hike worthwhile.

I’ve hiked this trail multiple times, but this was my first time in -20 degrees with snow. We went January 12th, so after all the warm weather I’m not sure what the trail looks like now. About twenty minutes in there was the aftermath of an avalanche that had blocked the trail. A short hike around the avalanche brought us back to the main trail. We only made it to the look out and turned around due to the cold and depth of snow :) we hadn’t brought snowshoes or spikes with us. But a fun short little walk either way !

Interesting hike with fun features. Our friend ran ahead so he could be the first of all the people on the full boat to get there. Though he did, he also got lost for 20 minutes and almost fell at the cave ledge due to anxiety. As hilarious of a story it is, maybe don't do that.

awesome. must go all the way to lake and take a swim. all part of the experience.

We wanted to teach our youngest how to snowshoe and decided to test it out on this trail. There wasn’t much snow, on December 23rd but, we were able to enjoy a nice little stroll and then eventually took the snowshoes off and walked the rest of the way to the river bottom! Great scenery, once at the river bottom. I would definitely love to see this specific place in the summer time!

Fun to run

Aug 28/19 - hiked through on the lakeshore trail. Great little campground. A couple of the tent pads have an excellent view of the lake.

First day of snow just my luck but still a really nice hike and very quiet today. I'd go back and camp. The red gravel beaches would be awesome on a sunny day.

Significant changes pre/post fire. Had the privilege to hike through before 2017 fire to USA border.

Was beautiful trail! Easy at the beginning. Does get a little bit more challenging past the falls! So worth going up and around the lake!

Did this in the summer of 2018. Only just got around to reviewing it now, as I remember everything I’ve done. What a nice little hideaway.

September 22. The contrast of the fall foliage with the burnt out forest is really something to see. I imagine this trail looked much different before the fire. Most of the elevation gain is at the beginning. Nice rocky beach to enjoy,

Epic hike. Completed on 9/23/19. At this time of year, the ferry ran only at 9a there and 5:30p back. I'm a very overweight short female that lives barely above sea level. I really wanted to complete this hike, but was very concerned about the elevation gain and altitude. I can do length on flat land forever, so the length in and of itself was not daunting for me. However, the added stress of being back to the dock in time for the return ferry was. This is probably one of the hardest trails I've completed taking all those factors into consideration. The ascent is not particularly steep, but about 3 of the 5 miles is fairly constant uphill. I took a LOT of "catch your breath" breaks, but mostly forced myself to keep moving. It took me about 4 hours to reach Crypt Lake. I only took about a 10 minute break at Crypt Lake before heading back down. The descent took me about 3 hours and 15 minutes. There is a section of the trail that is very rocky, so you don't feel extremely stable for a good distance. Add in the high winds we were experiencing and it added an extra element of anxiety. However, it was a fun hike. Crypt Lake was one itself of my least favorite lakes to view in Glacier and Waterton Lakes National Parks, but the hike itself was amazing and a fun challenge.

Beautiful easy hike, with a rewarding view at the end my and my dog do this atleast once a week, just wish people knew trail etiquette

Remarkable walk after the devastating fire of two years ago. Very poignant reminder of cycles of devastation and rebirth
