Great hike, on a beautiful day. Trail was pretty much snow covered the whole way; definitely recommend good hiking boots and ice grippers. Gaiters and poles would be beneficial as well. As mentioned by other hikers, the last third, or so, of the hike is quite steep (not for the faint of heart); but, the views at the top are well worth the grunt up. Also, be prepared for strong winds at the summit, it was certainly blowing when we were there. All in all, it was a gorgeous day and hike

Overall a good hike! Trail has spots of mud and ice so good shoes are necessary. Only made it up to the first lake as the trail to keep going wasn't marked and noone else we asked went further

Attempted to hike October 6th. There was a decent packed down trail most of the way up until an overlook of the first lake, but there was no broken trail beyond this down to the actual lakes. We turned around at this point, as did everyone else from the looks of it. Still a nice day out. Will have to come back in the summer.

great hike, but we went in the start of October which isn't the best time to take in all the scenery as most of the trail was covered in snow and lots of mud which makes it super slippery. if you have never done this hike then make sure you do it in summer months so you can get down to the lakes. make sure you have proper shoes and hiking poles if you notice snow on the trail.

Good hike! Snow was knee deep in some spots, but deep foot holes were present making it easier particularly on the steep section at approximately the 3.2 to 3.8 km mark. It was absolutely clear and sunny, but winds were extremely strong at the summit. Great views of Mt Burns, Bluerock Mountain, Mt Rose, Threepoint Mountain and Cougar Mountain in the distance. We left the trailhead at 930am and there was nobody on the Sheep or Mt Hoffman trails. Because of the recent snowfall, very few have gone to the summit and have opted out just going to The Hump. With gaiters and spikes this hike is still very accessible. Views are spectacular and makes you want to hike into the likes of Mt Burns before more snow accumulates and the road closes December 1st.

This trip was not for Pickle Jar Lakes; it was a work trip to inspect pipeline crossing #30 near Edmonton.

Great hike! Gets pretty steep near the end, so make sure you have good shoes or hiking poles. View at the summit is breathtaking!

nice hike. Really easy losing trail at beginning mistaking for various cow trails. Found skeletal bovine remains someone creatively (a bit morbidly) hung on an adjacent tree. Great views on top. Explored alternative ways down off of recorded trail. Really easy losing the way if not for GPS. Found mini-buttes overlooking sloped meadow toward roadway. Came down near nil trail defined. More frequent hikers would help mark trail from overgrowth. Road-hiked back to parking.

Fantastic views around the lakes. Nice mix of trail types (meadow, forest, alpine scree. My dog was with me and some of the rocks around the last lakes were a bit hard on his paws, a little tender tonight. Drive through Kananaskis was gorgeous with the turning of the larch trees.

Awesome hike, beautiful view of Sheep River before the ascent begins. Amazing 360 degree view once you reach the top, can even see downtown Calgary! The view is beyond spectacular for how short of a mountain this is!

huge climb before the lakes but so worth it!! this whole hike has so much to offer scenary wise there was constantly lots to look at and see besides the lakes. The lakes were gorgeous as well though :)

A big steep climb followed by 4 GORGEOUS lakes in a high valley. The climb was steeper than I anticipated but it was absolutely worth it! The trail is easy to hike and poles are not needed but lots of people had them. I’m calling this my second favourite hike in Kananaskis. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Great trail. Lots of nice lakes - would be a good spot for summer camping. Decent workout!

Beautiful views and lakes. No need for hiking poles. Just hiked to lakes but could continue to peak. Would be great for lakeside camping, fishing, floating, campfires.

Great hike, stunning views

Easy to follow trail, but there is a few turns you need to be aware of! Turn left after crossing the bridge across the river going up to old fire road, in about 20 minutes turn right slightly uphill into the forest (there is a large pothole in the fire road, turn just slightly before that). Continue up the trail, and at the fork in the road turn left at the rock arrow. It gets steep at the end, and the mud made it slippery- poles are definitely recommended. Views are the top are pretty good! Also, the river you get to cross is beautiful!

The trial was a good combination of flat and incline with amazing views. There is a small section before the first lake which requires some scrambling (using hands), but easy to get through. Do make your way to the 4th lake as it is pretty awesome. My garmin forerunner (gps) watch gave me different numbers then shown through this app, I did compare to other websites and mine was on par with them 10.56km to the 4th lake 502 m elevation gain It took 4hrs 50 min but we stopped for lunch at the first lake and each lake after and numerous times on the trail to take photos and appreciate the scenery. We also didn’t rush up or down but enjoyed the trail.

Gorgeous trail for scenic views at nearly every direction. Perfect weather day of sunshine and lite warm breezes. Picturesque lakes, towering rock faces, a bit of bouldering and scrambling, wildflowers galore, gushing waterfalls, scores of photo ops,.. oh my! So much to offer,.. so little time. Next time I'll get up on the overlooking ridgewalk for wider panoramic views of lakes below.

Junction Hill is a challenging and exciting hike with a bit of route finding, light scrambling, bushwhacking and viewpoints. There is a bit of exposure on the north ridge that makes for fun hiking, but not necessarily fun for beginners. The 360 panorama view at the top is well worth the effort, and for those who like adventurous hiking with route-finding, it's a blast. Experience route-finding is helpful for this hike as it does not follow a well-worn trail. We did the route counterclockwise and ended up in the forest for the last 1/3 of the hike. Forested areas are fairly open so it is not overly challenging.
