Crazy weather today, lots of snow falling. Managed to catch some amazing views of the mountains towards the end of our snowshoe. Love to do this again

The girlfriend and I snowshoed this trail and found it to be very enjoyable. The trail up until Rawson Lake was heavily packed and easy to follow. However at the lake the trail disappeared completely and it looked like everyone hit the lake and turned back. We tried to continue on but, with so much snow fall, breaking fresh trail became tiring after another kilometer so we settled for reaching the far side of the lake, had lunch, and trekked back out. Good trail, only saw one other couple. We plan on going in the summer.

Classic Kananaskis hike, one of my favourites.

Very nice trail. The only problem that the last part of the road to the trail was unpaved. However, it was an easy one and once you reach the lake, you can enjoy the view. We went on the fall so we could not enjoy the flowers so that I hope I can go again in the summer

A very nice trail , it has step sections but is very manageable, also very. yay as the weather was nice. The view at the trail end is breath taking !

Beautiful!!! But quite hard considering I’m out of shape & it’s up up up the whole way to the lake!!!! Worth it though!!!!

Beautiful! I had my snowshoes, but didn’t need them last weekend. It was quite easy (I’m out of shape ;) with beautiful views on the drive there & back, but also at the lake. Beautiful!!!

Very steep at the beginning but very easy after about the first 2/3. The snow covered lake is in a beautiful bowl of peaks! Can’t wait to get back in summer!

This was a beautiful trail!! The trail offers some outstanding views once making it past the steep inclines. Most of the hike is in tree covering, but once you make it to the opening it is a worthy hike!! Our snowshoes worked out great and we wore minimal layers as we heated up quickly during climbing. I’d advise bringing additional layers for the opening as the winds tend to pick up past the tree line.
- great trail signage
- moderate/medium level difficulty during winter
- spectacular views
- easy access in and out of trail

This is always where we seem to go for our first snowshoe trip of the year! It is peaceful and the snow is always great.

We did most of this trail - stopped early to head home - but definitely worth doing. Steep at the beginning but flat and easy going for the rest of the way. Good for snowshoeing but the hikers we had with us had a bit of trouble on the hill. Great snow and good views!

Great trail. Definitely push yourself to the top of the lake

We did a partial snowshoe/hike of this one today with some friends. Great views and lots of snow. A bit steep at the beginning without snowshoes and for longer than we thought; but very flat and enjoyable later on.

We did see the mama bear with her 3 cubs just before the Highwood parking area, she stayed on the Ptarmigan Cirque side

Very pleasant snowshoeing circuit. Fairly easy for kids and not busy at all. Great views once you get to Marl Lake.

So much snow and a great trail

So much snow. Fantastic as always.

This is a very easy route, I do not think it is moderate. I think that it can be easily managed by the elderly and people with less mobility. It was a nice track and decent snowshoeing. There is no challenge to it, but it was still enjoyable.

The hills at the beginning of the hike are hard work, but if you push past them it'll be worth it for the amazing mountain views that follow :)

Beautiful, relatively short and flat trail. Great way to start the snowshoeing season. The day was gorgeous, blue sky, sunshine and temperature around -3C.

Went snowshoeing today with my dog, it was really nice. Couldn’t do the full hike because of avalanche warnings but we hiked to the point which had beautiful views.

Lots of new snow when we went up on 12/30/17. Great hike - first third very steep, but straightforward after. Several open meadows with great views of surrounding peaks.

Amazing views, quiet location, would love to snowshoe this again!

Great packed trail for snowshoeing. First few kilometers are uphill but flattens out after that. Easy to follow and well marked.

Completed this one in september, mostly a hike but you can sramble on some slabs if you go a bit off trail. Going towards the top it is more fun to shoot the gully to climb a bit of rock rather than travelling on the standard trail. However this is not recommended for return. On the way back down, there is an obvious trail leading around the scree/rock sections, but it is an awesome scree run with no large rocks and steep enough that you can gain some speed. By far the scree run was the most fun part, but be considerate of people above you because you will generate a lot of dust.

We rented snow shoes and poles from the U of C outdoor centre. Worked out to about $13 a person! Great little hike, fresh air, nice steady incline at the beginning. A couple feet of snow out there. The paths are good but there is room to venture in to some fresh powder :)
