Jasper is the gentle giant of the Rockies. Offering visitors a more laid-back mountain experience - with equal options for adventure, discovery and relaxation.

awesome hike with tons of fantastic views. got a little lost by 4km (haha)) butdn't mind one bit!

Beautiful walk by the river and canyon. Fantastic views! We took 7h back, which was more of an uphill hike.

Best hike we did in Jasper! We walked all the way up to the end. We walked into the woods up en after a couple of km’s we had a lot great views. And it was NOT very quiet, not so many other hikers.
It became a little bit more crowded near by the cable car. I recommend everyone to hike this trail!

Excellent hike which brings you all the best the canyon has to offer! Waterfalls and do watch out for wildlife. This trail goes to the 5th bridge but you can add on the further 1.7km (one way) to the 6th bridge if you choose (easy and flat terrain). This hike is rated moderate because using 7h to get back to parking is extremely steep right where you join it after the turn at 5th bridge. It does level off after a while and then it’s easy to the end.

Great walk with nice balance of vertical and walking. Big horn sheep are a bonus.

Excellent hike with lots of views, we even lucked out without to much smoke this past Thursday.

This was a midday activity for me and there was lots of people around. The canyon is really cool to see and the walk is easy with only one short steep section.

Got on the trail early morning, almost nobody else was around, very relaxing walk. The lakes are worth checking out but get very busy.

Arrived early evening, not too many people were around but would be very busy in the middle of the day. Great viewpoint for almost no effort.

Arrived late afternoon, not many people were around, and most of those who were didn't bother going down to the lower falls section. Would probably be very busy during the day. Nice and easy walk, good for a stop off while driving the highway.

easy viewpoint

Monday 6th August 2018. Mid day start, just over 2hours to the top and an hour down. Beautiful scenery and hardly anyone else on the trail. Steep in sections and at the top. A lot of mosquitos, very windy past the tree line, no large wildfire. Fun

My favourite hike I’ve done so far. Great views at the top.

Probably our favorite hike because of the pretty lake views. We had 3 kids ages 6, 7, and 11. It was busy even late in the day. The couple ahead of us encountered a black bear on Trail 9a and turned back. We proceeded forward and never spotted the bear (probably because our youngest was crying so loud because she was tired). We did carry bear spray. The lakes are serene. Loved the little dock at 5th Lake.

Great trail. Not too difficult, but some fairly steep terrain for a few minutes. Make sure you stay right when making the loop. You’ll have a more gradual climb and the best views that way. That saves the steeper decline for the way back. The return of the loop also has great views of the surrounding mountains and lakes.

Great 360 view of Jasper and surrounding areas!! It's an amazing hike!

Amazing view of the 5 lakes!

Loved it!

great views of the falls

Nice walk into the impressive canyon.
Don’t miss the trail 7h, if you want to go back to parking “Maligne Canyon”.

Starts off easy, paved road. then changes to mixture of dirt and rocks. steady uphill, steep in a lot of places. took many many breaks. trail is well outlined. the summit was relief and sense of accomplishment!! very windy at the summit! lots of berries and chipmunks! coming down from the summit was a bit challenging. go EARLY morning when it's cool out. it took us 3 hours to get to the top, I don't have greatest fitness level and my blood sugar gave me numerous issues but chugged along. coming down took 1 hour and 15 mins.
only downside was the smoke from the fires made it hard to see far away but was a very good climb!
go to the hotsprings after!

Skyline is a must do in Jasper! The views are absolutely breath taking throughout the trail and so rewarding once you cross the notch. My husband and I hiked the trail in two days (one night) due to the time we had remaining. We are 28 and 30 years old and from what I consider to be pretty shape. If you do the trail in 2 days you have to be moving at a pretty decent pace! We stayed as watchtower because everything else was booked and would not recommend that if you can avoid staying there. The trail is not well marked/traveled and it is true the mosquito's are relentless!
