Great trail well marked and well groomed. saw lots of wild life. Go early in the morning mosquitoes are bad but lots to see. I'm going to do this trail again.

Very pleasant, easy stroll. Enjoyed watching the very busy beavers in the pond near the beginning of the trail. There were also beautiful wetland flowers. I didn’t see any other animals (which is to be expected, as it was afternoon), but there were tracks/scat/fur from bison, elk, deer, and coyote, so if you went in the morning or evening you’d likely have a good chance.

A good walk through the woods; as it’s a longer trail, there wasn’t much traffic and it was wonderfully peaceful. There were definitely some muddy patches. There were bison along the way, and plenty of signs that there were many more nearby. Bug spray was a must; even being bathed in DEET, I still needed bug netting over my head for the last 4km or so.

A nice trail. Largely deciduous forest. There are a couple of short boardwalks- one with a meadow view, one by a beautiful wetland- where it was nice to take a water break and watch for creatures.

A lovely, short trail. I went two days in a row at sunset and was able to enjoy numerous beaver, muskrat, and waterfowl. This would be a great trail to bring the kids along.

Great easy trail. We went the last weekend in April so it was a little bit wet but still amazing! We will absolutely be back.

Bring insect repellent, water, snacks/lunch. take out your ear buds. turn off your phone and put it in your pocket. pay attention to your surroundings (dont state at your feet). Very enjoyable hiking, lots of great views and wildlife.

It was alright. A lot of wood parts and mossy trail. Biked the trail and didn’t see any bisons :(

nice views and a little bit of incline at some spots. some benches to sit on and a picnic table halfway. not too many muddy spots. overall good day!

I’ve only done this trail on snow shoes. It’s a fun quick trail that has enough small ups and downs to not be too much of a stroll. Did it with the dog on a 15 foot lead. Has some nice viewing spots.

I love this trail four seasons ... it’s challenging enough to give one a sense of accomplishment. Many nice spots for contemplation.

In winter it’s
Not very scenic

Easy, scenic trail. If you're staying overnight at the Oster Lake camp, however, be prepared for bison encounters as they tend to congregate here (as evidenced by the droppings you'll find). Give them lots of space, and get in your tent when it gets dark so you don't surprise them. We were kind of stuck in our tent as they were within 10 m of us for a large portion of the night. Cool, but a little nerve wracking. Beautiful stars too.

Close to home and decent views that you don’t need to work hard for.

It was a relaxing trail to walk on. Not a challenging terrain. Very pretty in the fall with all the yellow leaves

this is a great beginner trail! my family and I went out last weekend and had a great time. this trail took us about an hour and our 3 yr old had no problem walking it herself. there are a few small incline and declines but generally well kept. I would recommend this trail to young families and the elderly alike.

Nice and refreshing! Lots of animal poop and we sadly saw nothing but a coyote and we left since we have small dogs.

16km of woods... the odd opening. I didn't see any wildlife other than birds. I found the hike very boring. It's mostly flat however, but I suggest you wear pants as parts of the trail are grown and there's lots of thorns.

Paved path for about 1km. Then a dirt road. Great for a quick family bike ride or family hike. Easy, dry with limited views of the lake.

Nice easy trail. Not much of a lake view once you go off the paved trail. Some ponds, but mostly in the bush. Muddy in some spots. Didn't see any wildlife, but did hear the snorting in the bush and saw the bison tracks on the trail.

This was my first time going to Elk Island, I really enjoyed this trail! It is long but with very little elevation. The weather was very hot that day so I started the hike around 8 am, in hopes that the cooler morning temperature would have some of the Bison/wildlife on the move. Turns out that was the right way to go, just driving to the trail head there were a lot of bison walking along the fence that borders the highway, I stopped and got some great pictures there. Later on the trail I came face to face with some more bison! The bogs/marsh areas were mostly dry so it was easy to get around them, and the bugs were also at a minimum. It was a great day!

the trail markings leave something to be desired because a few of them are somewhat confusing at the trails junctions but that was a minor issue. It was a good trail for walking the dog, came across several large buffalo on the trail so be ready for an encounter with large wildlife. Back off down the trail and make some noise, they will quietly sneak off into the woods. Completed the hike in 3 hours with a couple stops to take pictures by the lake.

Nice hike, long but not too challenging. We saw a few wild buffalo and deer which was super exciting!
