Hiked this trail in mid October early in the morning. Had 3 elk walk up to me to about 15 feet before they got spooked, I could hear the male elks calling was an excellent hike saw Bison on the way in and lots of partridge. Stopped for a snack in a nice open field there are signs warning of quicksand. Didn't know this was a thing in Alberta. Last time I hiked this trail was in June lots of mosquitoes.

Today we spent an amazing 5 hours on this trail. With a fresh snowfall the night before we trudged through 6-8” of fresh snow. The trail was so peaceful. Easy hike just long one. I would recommend this trail with the fresh snow.

good hike, but once you pass the pond there is nothing else to see really! it’s a circle in the forest, and unfortunately we didn’t see any wildlife whatsoever! it was a beautiful pond though so definitely go the ~1km up the trail for that, just turn around at the circle to save yourself some time and energy :-)

perfect hike! it’s actually 16.5km, and took us about 3 hours and 45 minutes, even with stopping for about 45 minutes overall in little intervals. great for dogs! such a beautiful little nature trip :-)

Nice quick morning walk. Lots of different views for scenery. Bison along the way and lots of birds and waterfowl, not to forget about squirrels and chipmunks. The path leading to the trailhead is paved but after that it’s stumpy and bumpy, wouldn’t recommend a stroller as I passed a group who ended up having to carry theirs.

This is a decent trail though it is rather narrow. It's almost entirely through thick bush and is extremely buggy in early summer. I used this trail to try out some new hiking gear - rain jacket, gaiters and pack, before heading off to bigger trails. There is a point at about half way where the trail opens up into a large meadow with a tributary which was really nice. It was rainy that day but on a clear day the view would be even better. This trail is great if you have a few hours to knock out a nice day hike. Just don't forget the bug spray!

on Beaver Pond Trail

Although the description said that it takes 1-2 hours, my husband and I did a brisk walk and it took us only around 30 minutes. That was mostly in part because we were woefully unprepared for the mosquito situation and just wanted to quickly finish the loop.
This is a easy trail with some very small hills (check the elevation gain info). Great starter hike for beginners. Not very scenic but there is a small pond at the beginning of the loop. We spotted some birds on pond and a few squirrels along the trail.

on Tawayik Lake Trail

The hike is nothing too special, but we did see some bison, which made it worth it in the end. Make sure to bring bug spray. The mosquito's are aggressive.

pretty chillin hike! good stroll, nice scenic parts along the way. doggos loved it.

Some small hills but a nice trail to introduce kids to trail riding.

Very accessible to all levels.

Usually pretty low traffic on this trail, due to length I suspect. Common to see bison and moose. Bug spray highly recommended for this trail.
Have done this trail in winter and run into serious drifts along south end of Flyingshot Lake, about 500 meters of fence posting through it as I didn’t bring snowshoes, rest of trail seemed fine.

A good walk through the woods; as it’s a longer trail, there wasn’t much traffic and it was wonderfully peaceful. There were definitely some muddy patches. There were bison along the way, and plenty of signs that there were many more nearby. Bug spray was a must; even being bathed in DEET, I still needed bug netting over my head for the last 4km or so.

A nice trail. Largely deciduous forest. There are a couple of short boardwalks- one with a meadow view, one by a beautiful wetland- where it was nice to take a water break and watch for creatures.

A lovely, short trail. I went two days in a row at sunset and was able to enjoy numerous beaver, muskrat, and waterfowl. This would be a great trail to bring the kids along.

Great easy trail. We went the last weekend in April so it was a little bit wet but still amazing! We will absolutely be back.

I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Not very challenging but if your looking for a relaxing stroll this is defiantly a great trail. There were a few wet spots that I'm sure will be dry within the week. Honestly I spent most of the hike imagining it come winter. Can't wait to shoe this next year.

Bring insect repellent, water, snacks/lunch. take out your ear buds. turn off your phone and put it in your pocket. pay attention to your surroundings (dont state at your feet). Very enjoyable hiking, lots of great views and wildlife.

It was alright. A lot of wood parts and mossy trail. Biked the trail and didn’t see any bisons :(

Biked this trail. Not to challenging but it wasn’t all smooth and had great trail maintenance Really enjoyed it!

nice views and a little bit of incline at some spots. some benches to sit on and a picnic table halfway. not too many muddy spots. overall good day!

Awesome hike. Have seen bison everytime on this trail. Right now its got lots of snow, puddles and slushy sections. Once it’s dried up a very good hike worth recommending.

I’ve only done this trail on snow shoes. It’s a fun quick trail that has enough small ups and downs to not be too much of a stroll. Did it with the dog on a 15 foot lead. Has some nice viewing spots.
