We tried this route for the first time on Saturday. We usually walk the Tawayik Trail but wanted something shorter. It IS a relatively short route but we enjoyed it. It’s a bit muddy but most of the ground is frozen so it wasn’t too bad. Lots of beaver houses and beaver activity (but no beavers seen). We saw ZERO wildlife aside from one chickadee and a grouse/quail. A very nice and quiet trail that we will definitely explore again.

Didnt complete entire trail. Nice views throughout. Easy terrain.

Very tight access to get fat tire bike through the gate. Nice trail, easy ride, but not the greatest scenery. Just bush trails.

This was a good trail. The first 1/4 of it is paved. Not stroller friendly as there’s lots of roots.

Nice stroll through Aspen forest, 3km of rolling terrain with the chance of seeing various wildlife. At about halfway mark there is a glacial erratic at the side of the trail. Some sections can be muddy and some prone to flooding due to Beaver activity.

Nice little easy fall hike, saw a Beaver swimming with a few Chickadee’s in the tress. Lots of Beaver Lodges and a few cool Damns to look at along the trail.

I was on this trail 10 Oct just as the sun came up. It was cold but no mosquitoes. Lots of wildlife had to wait 10 minutes for a moose to move on to I could cross a bridge. Also saw a coyote and a elk very nice views with most of the leaves gone.

Really enjoyed this trail. We saw coyotes, a muskrat and some swans flying overhead. The fall colours are beautiful and there are hardly any bugs this time of year.

Arrived at the parking lot around 330pm. Temp was around 11 degrees Started our walk approx 4-5 Km To our campsite. When at our campsite we had two huge bisons in the camp they slowly moved out of the area on their own. Light rain. Got a fire going. Beautiful evening next morning packed up and made the rest of hike around the lake approx 6 km It was my first back packing trip with my son Father’s Day gift. Celebrated s a little late. Recommend as good learning trip

Nice trail! Cool spot for camp fires! My dog got tired so turned back half way! Nice walk just watch out for poo lol

Decent trail for mountain biking, good for walking. Trail is wide and clear of debris with a few mud holes to maneuver around. Some rooty sections and the Bison frequent the trail so their hoof prints make it bumpy and there’s the occasional Buffalo steamer to avoid. You spend about 90% of the time in the bush but there are 3 lakes along the way with viewpoints. Lots of coloured leaves in the fall and no bugs.

Very nice trail in the fall. Colours of the trees are quite nice. There’s a bench the overlooks the small lake, very pretty view.

Partially paved trail that leads to narrow path through forest. Some hills and lake views. Easy for kids. Beautiful trail in the fall.

Done this twice now, once in spring and once in fall (as of this past weekend) both in the morning around 10 am. Fall is glorious with the leaves all yellow, and no bugs either at both times of the year. I rate this a 5/5 because compared to other trails at EE, this is wide and gives you more of a 'strolling through a wooded lane' feeling rather than just a single-wide trail through heavy bush like other hikes that start feeling claustrophobic (Tawayik Lake, I'm looking at you). I can imagine that if you are a cross country skiier, this one would be great for you. Mostly flat! Lots of evidence of bison on the trail (a bit unnerving when you follow a trail of fresh poop but still don't see any bison in the woods!) and coyotes. I did this hike by myself both times and never ran into any trouble. Lots of chickadees at one point, and I saw woodpeckers (or similar bird) throughout. Saw a few grouse too. FYI - the trail markers start counting down distance once you start the loop, but don't include the initial trail out to the loop. And t here are a few points when it is prudent to watch for trail markers when a path leads off the trail and is more well defined than where you are supposed to be going. I read other reviews about people encountering quicksand, which really means they went OFF trail. I could see in the distance once a sign that must have indicated quick sand, but if you stay on trail, you will not encounter any marked areas like this. Overall, I'd do this hike again and again. It's a great little getaway to get the noise of the city off your ears and is a gem out of the hikes at Elk Island.

Paved busy trail in the beginning. The lake was beautiful as was watching all of the people canoeing around the island in the middle. The paved trail ends and you go through a gate and onto a nature trail. The trail is easy and loops back to the gate and paved trail.

This trail was ok. Not too hard. The swamps were full of green algae and not too nice to look at, but with leaves falling and the autumn colours, this was a nice walk away from busy city life.

Nice easy trail I did with my 3 kids, aged 4, 6, and 8.

me and my two kids age five and eight hits this trail at 7 in the morning as the sun was rising. fantastic trail, we saw a ton of frogs some interesting mushrooms and a great view of a beaver.

I biked about 4-5 Kms of this trail and I encountered the largest herd of buffalo I have ever seen. I had to turn around unfortunately because the trail was going right through where the buffalo was herding and there was no going around them. Lol!!!!
