Easy beginner hike. Gorgeous views.

I want to hike Ha Ling this weekend with the nice weather. is it actually closed or can it stil be done?

This hike is insane. Quite scrambly at the top, so careful on a super windy day! Very difficult, had to stop many times, but great work out and beautiful hike

Rented a set of skis and learned as we went great fun and nice intro.

Great hike, views are awesome took some time at the top to find the paintings but worth it.

I think I’d only recommend this trail if you’re new to the area and need something to get you acclimated to the inclines and altitude. It’s not difficult by any means, but does include a bit of elevation gain. On either side you’ll have good views of Ha Ling and EEOR (which are much better hikes), and you’ll get a satisfying view of the waterfall the lakes are feeding as you climb. The true beauty of this hike is the crystal clear lakes.

Pushing past the lakes will lead you to petroglyphs and the reservoir above, which is pretty in its own right, giving you a good view of the mountains beyond. Occasionally I have seen mountain goats/sheep? near the top of the trail, and extremely friendly chipmunks. There are a few popular rock climbing sections as well that are accessed via this hike. Altogether, some nice views, although not the best by any means.

Great trail, wonderful views, sufficiently challenging!!

Hiked May long, steep clear trail to follow and many people along the way.
Great to do as a half day hike as it’s relatively short.
Took us 3 hours at a moderate fitness level and as a first hike of the year.
Curious to do again this spring to see what work has been done for trail development.
As stated by others aim to hike and summit early to avoid crowds. We started at 9, and came across many people on the trails, so aim for earlier and you’ll be coming down as everyone is headed up!
Keep in mind it’s a leg burning up and down as it’s constant elevation all the way up, so bring good shoes and lots of water!
Enjoy

We did the peak in summer. Steep..best for cardio. Awesome views

Conditions were optimal with little snow. The trail is more on the easy side with a wide pathway and gradual changes in elevation. It’s a nice walk with a couple of decent views. Wore crampons but didn’t need them.

Not closed!

The tougher trail is closed but the main trail is not. Very enjoyable and the lakes at the top of the hike are work the price of admission (tired legs)!

As of December 18th there was very little ice on the water so you can see the gorgeous blue green colors. Trails were a little slippery but I managed it in sneakers.

Enjoy

Some of the parts of the trail were closed so it was up and down the same path to the mini lakes at top.

Wow! Amazing reward at the top!

Gorgeous view!! Nice easy trail :)

Beautiful winter hike. Easy trail was very easy. Probably good with a stroller.
More difficult was full of tree roots and rocks under the little snow. Closer to the top of more difficult trail you need crampons. It was pure ice due to the overflow.
From the lakes, the hike up the stairs has a nice lookout. At the very top you can cross the road for a nice mountain and lake view.
Outhouse on site.

Went on Nov 12th. Sunny. Temp -5. Trail spilt into more difficult and east. More difficult has lots of frozen icy surface which are extramely spiliry. lots of beautiful forest view and sunny mountain view. Trail beyond water fall is covered in frozen ice. Spikes are recommended for that part of the trail.
Grassi lakes at the end of the trail is very beautiful and not frozen so you still see the beautiful color of the water.
I would go back in summer again.

Enjoyable easy hike :)
Went 3 weeks a go a bit slippery in some spots but other then that a good fun hike.

Not recommended for the harder side in the winter unless you have good shoe spikes. Great views and a pleasant trail when recovering from a hard trail. Lots of traffic even in winter and much better than Quarry Lake all around.

We did this hike on November 3rd. It was beautiful. Hardly any snow.

Hike was awesome! Easy trail for sure! Highly recommend it, lots to see for sure!

Did this mountain via ha ling gully (wear a helmet) , miners peak to back bowl of grassi. Climbers scramble up to a ridge and venture upwards it until you reach a small climb on a narrow with dramatic drops on either sides. Conquer that and its smooth sailing. Take Lawrence grassi route out. Super fun alternative routes for ha ling and grassi

Easy. Beautiful. Worth the view

it take me 6 h to hike it, it is an easy trail with beatifull Views at the bow river. i started at canmore Nordic Center and take the banff trail and conected it with the riverside trail, so finaly i was hiking from canmore to banff

Beautiful place really easy hike but it was close to walk aground the lake or get to the other lakes, I posted a photo of it.
(I jumped the “fence” and walked a little bit up)

Went there yesterday looking for a nice easy hike as I'd just had my wisdom teeth out. It's ok, but you still feel very close to civilisation with the construction at the top, the exposed pipes and powerlines.

The easy way up is a steady incline, but a nice wide path. The hard way is flatter for the most part, and narrower. But you have to do some rocky steps at the end and step through some very shallow running streams. I prefered the hard way considerably.

The waterfall is running well.

Nice and easy hike. Has a beautiful panoramic view. However, around the lake there is a tape, so you cannot come very close or go to further to see other lakes. It's still worth seeing! The lake is beautiful.

Great little hike close to town.

Currently the trails around both lakes are still closed at the top due to road construction above, but it's still a worthy short climb for a great view.

'Easy' and 'More Difficult' routes are clearly marked. Choose more difficult for a hiking trail that comes to a beautiful waterfall. Trail is currently clear of ice/snow.

Easy is a wider, all-gravel path. Ice for the top 1/3 of the trail, but nothing too worrisome if you're careful.
