Very quiet trail. Didn’t see anyone else on it the entire hike just a doe and her fawn. Trail well marked and had some great signs with information closer to the school. Was carrying a baby in a backpack carrier and was not a problem.

Good hike nice and close to the city. Not strenuous at all. Enjoyed it.

Somehow we missed wherever the trail loops back (no signage) and ended up walking 12.6kms in total. We ended up at the school on highway 22 and had to walk back along both highways to the parking lot. Would have appreciated signs. This was supposed to be a quick and easy hike. Thank goodness the kids handled it okay.

Hike and path itself was nice and fun, but agree with other reviewers about no proper marking. 1.5 km hike turned into 9.95 on hike for me, ending up on other side of hill next to highway 22 & walking all the way back to town next to road.

The only reason I'm not giving this trail 5 stars is because the Google maps does not take you to the Alder trail parking lot, it takes you to a parking lot very close by. So there was a little confusion on finding the trail. but once we actually found the trail it was awesome. definitely do again.

The trail is nice, I only give the low rating for the highway crossing. Great for all level of walkers, no steep inclines, pretty through the trees, good forest exploring.

A couple wet muddy spots with water running through the path, but otherwise a nice clear path, not too hard and shaded all the way through. Mosquitos ate us alive during stops. Very few others on the trail midday on Canada Day, lovely quiet hike.

nice short hike, some parts are muddy and you need to know at one point to take a left and complete the loop and stay on the interpretive trail, slight elevation but nothing too strenuous

Trail was very short and easy to do with kids. No one else was there so it was peaceful and quiet. Would try the longer section next time.

Very easy quick little walk

A very quick, woodsy hike. A bit close to road noise for our liking.

Great for kids, lots to explore and great trail info stops to learn about the Foothills.

Shaded hike, nice to get some relief from the sun. This is an enjoyable moderate woodland hike, no viewpoint but still worth doing.

Horribly marked trail -our 2 km hike turned into a 8 km hike and we had to walk back to town with a 2 year old and two dogs. Many people in the below reviews complain about how badly marked it is and how they got lost too. Hopefully it gets upgraded.

We also did this trail by mistake while trying to do the short Alter trail. It was a nice hike but poorly marked. We saw to maps only and they didn’t have “ you are here points”

Was hard but I am also 310lbs. Was ok.

nice walk in the woods

Loved this hike! Definitely a bit of a work out, took us 108 minutes but we did get a little lost. Down a star because there was no real signs or maps - except for one that did not have any marker for where you were. Other than that it was a beautiful hike. We started fairly early so it wasn't busy at all. Muddy but manageable. Loved that it was a mix of many different terrains, wasn't boring at all.

Nice walk in the trees. We took three kids (5, 7, and 9) and it was fine for them. Nothing crazy scenic but some quiet and good terrain.

still some icy spots but an enjoyable hike. Did it with a 10 year old

Went on this hike by mistake after missing the trail marker for Alder Trail. However I would definitely do this one again, I bet it's beautiful in the summer/fall.

The trail and hike itself was good. But it wasn't well marked and we ended up doing the longer banded peak hike as well. Few fallen trees, ice, and mud... great to see animal tracks.
