Beautiful easy trail with stairs the whole way up! The view of Moraine Lake is worth being with all of the crowds!

Overnight snow, wild for August 17, left a good coating over the top portion of the summit cone but with some helpful advice from an intrepid duo before us who said the ice wasn’t too bad and conditions were slowly improving, Emboldened by their helpful advice we persevered and made it, just one step at a time, even with some snow covered rocks in the top few hundred feet. Sorry they couldn’t enjoy the summit with us but we admired their spirit. The views are impressive and they even begin to open up just a short jaunt up the ridge. The top portion isn’t technical by any standard but does require some concentration on a very steep slope for the final push. Trail past the lake swings right for only a short time then left up across the ridge. With help from the run off snow melt the trail was never difficult to find even near the top. Route finding rather intuitive. Our Map My Run app clocked in at 11.5 miles and it took us 6 hours 30 minutes moving time although we had some brief stops to talk to the awesome locals on this trip.

such a beautiful trail but best to hike in the early fall. so busy in the summer

The views are stunning in all directions. I have made a video of this hike. It is on YouTube, and my channel is LIVEON ALBERTA. Check it out if you want to see the hike before you do it.

This hike is beautiful and definitely worth it, but because we read the comments beforehand, we thought we had to cross the river. You don’t actually have to do this!!!! The trail is just marked very poorly. So, the first part of the trail is extremely muddy. Once you get to the river, you see a sign that has a hiker with a backpack on it that points to you crossing the river.... Instead of doing this, which leads you to the campsite, look to your left and follow that trail. That is the trail that all trails follows and it will lead you directly to the lake..

Great hike. Overall, the hike was moderate with the last 30 minutes being hard.

We only did the paved part of the trail which is really cool.

Best trail due to hardly any people. We were on the trail at 10 am. We went a little farther than the map and to the right. Then You can see the hoodoos. The last part of the trail is by a noisy road. The rest of the trail has different landscapes. Beautiful moss colored forest floor, meadows, and a great view of bow river with the mountains. We saw lots of elk dropping’s but no elk.

Magnificent views! This was a hard trail for me and my husband. I think it was the altitude and constantly going straight up. We saw a porcupine and numerous birds. Beautiful wildflowers. If you decide to hike this trail just remember the return is downhill which is so easy.

Stopped around 200 vertical feet short of the summit due to snowy conditions (Aug. 17th). Summit was accessible but, given cloud buildup and the icy state of the scree, we decided to turn back. First 3.5 miles to Helen Lake is a class-one heavily trafficked trail. After that, there's a clearly defined path leading up to the base of Dolomite Ridge, which forks north (left) to the base of Cirque Peak. Some route finding is required for the first section of the scramble, as the base is more talus/boulder than scree. At 8,350 feet, the trail becomes fairly defined and followable; while steep, it's certainly not a scramble. We followed it up to 9,450 feet before calling it due to ostensibly deteriorating conditions. Much to my regret, the fog lifted from Bow Valley shortly after we had begun descending, giving way to intermittent clear skies and warmer temperatures. This is the first summit attempt I've ever started too early, I suppose, having not given the dusting of snow sufficient time to thaw (nor the clouds to part). A 07:15 departure would've worked better for this foggy morning. While they did obstruct Bow Valley, the low-hanging clouds made for excellent photography conditions. If time permits, I heavily recommend heading up Dolomite Ridge after summiting Cirque Peak. The vista of Lake Katherine & Dolomite Valley is unparalleled even in Banff. One duo said they were going to explore the Alice Lake / Dolomite Pass area after climbing Cirque; while that's one hell of a long day, I can't say I wasn't tempted to do the same. This may legitimately be the most stunning circuit in all of Banff and it certainly merited more than six hours of hiking.

Who wants to make this way, must be there early. The first day we were too late, and the road there already closed. There are then bus transfers, but the waiting time is certainly 1.5-2 hours. So the whole thing again the next day, we were already at 7.30 am at the parking lot, and also found a free space. (however it rained and was pretty cold). The way is nice to go, we have also made the last part of the route, the view is worthwhile. Definitely warm clothes, we only had about 4 degrees ...

Beautiful path, ideal for short legs when traveling on the Icefields Parkway. Not too demanding, overwhelming views of the glacier. It took us about two and a half hours to get there and back. No break because it was just too cold and very windy ...

Great easy hike at the beginning, then it gets quite challenging at the very end. Keep pushing! The views at the high point are incredible. Definitely bring bear spray, came across a black bear on the way down.

mosquitos galore that are viscious but otherwise fantastic hike, great views for easier effort. was muddy and root, but still in hood shape.

Only did part of this and then got turned around by a sign saying you must have bear spray to continue. Wish that sign/warning was more prevalent before we started. Would have been good I think!

I’d highly recommend this trail. It’s just enough challenge to feel like I accomplished a good hike! “Easy” up to lake Agnes then the climb begins. Honestly the descent after the climb up to the Beehive was more challenging to me. Quite rocky and quite busy. Only issue I had with people was someone was playing music on a speaker while hiking. I’m a fan of using hiking to enjoy the surroundings and be more meditative.

I was slightly disappointed with this hike. There were pretty nice views to the peaks. First part is zigzag climb. But after trail splits, this part just flat and easy. There is no access to the lake, unless you want to scramble, but it’s not worth. It’s around 1h till pass, not difficult and probably would give you nice view. In general, it’s pretty short nice hike.

Loved the hike! Such a stunning route. Challenging start and totally worth it. No bears, just a couple chipmunks. Took about five hours, with lots of photo and snack stops :)
