Trail is in great shape, a beautiful day and we found it to be a very pleasant hike. We wore spikes but they were likely not needed.

Short and sweet hike with a super rewarding view at the end. The waterfall and creek are partially frozen since it's been a warm November. The snow and the sun melting the snow on the path (especially at the "steep terrain" signs) make it slippery and a little bit harder than expected (there were marks in the snow from of someone having slid off the edge today). I'd recommend proper footwear (someone did it in runners and he's regretting it) and if you're not too confident in your snow traversing skills, poles or grips.

Nice quick walk. A bit steep up but of course all down hill on the way back. Gorgeous view at the top!

Wasn’t able to follow this map as it wanted you to go across the stream to follow it properly. However nice easy trail with some decent views

Typical Sulphur experience - great hiking conditions regardless of what time of the year it is. Trail is all covered in snow but it’s soft grippy snow, no ice. I’ve done it in regular running shoes without any issues and without getting my feet wet. Great views from the top as always.

11/15/20- first of all, the road isn’t closed. I liked how quiet this hike is. The moose meadows part had absolutely no one there which was great. The trail is wide so passing would be easy if others were there. The views are super minimal. Nothing special for most of the hike, but as always being out in nature is nice. You don’t really fee the incline and I found it quite easy. The ink pots were just ok. It was a nice spot to be out in nature but I would pick something else next time. There are comparable length/elevation in the lake minnewanka area that are more scenic and enjoyable than this hike.

11/27/20- great trail. The snow was packed down and I wore cleats almost the whole time, even though some spots were rocky. It was VERY windy and it looked like there were new downed trees across the path, which makes for a fun challenge! Very very pretty hike. I started at 930am and I was the only car in the lot. I saw 3 other groups the whole day. I didn’t make it all the way to the campsite because it got a little boring and there where too many exposed rocks and I was tired of taking off and putting on my spikes. I’ll come back and run it this winter for sure. It had spectacular views almost the whole time. There wasn’t too much snow and the Lake wasn’t frozen. I clocked in 10km and anyone would be able to do that much of the trail. It’s too bad dogs can’t use the trail in the summer time because I would have loved to come back and camp at the campsite.

The trail was not too busy on this Friday afternoon, and not too slippery. The canyon, the river and the waterfalls were incredibly beautiful.

Relaxing start along Lake Louise. Crowds thin out a bit once you start climbing. Tea houses are a nice spot to grab a coffee and rest the legs. Great views everywhere, especially from the top of the Beehive.

Trail is nice and packed down but not too slippery. Used crampons and poles but would be doable without them. We got to the top around 4pm and decided to take the gondola down because it got pretty chilly and we were already a bit tired and ready to get home. Very windy at the top!

Awesome hike. Went on a Thursday afternoon and it was very quiet. Lovely views, albeit windy at the top. Definitely wear spikes on your boots; I watched a couple more or less slide all the way back down haha. Definitely on the easier side of moderate.

Lake Louise is gorgeous! It can get very crowded due to the hotel — but you MUST hike around and in the back of the lake. That’s where the real magic is :-)

Tempted to downgrade this trail to a four-star simply due to the switchbacks' constantly running beneath the gondola (which destroys one's notion of being 'out there'). It was, however, a five-star day last March as an incoming storm created challenging conditions and left us among only a handful on the trail (and the last that day to descend on foot) ... Crampons performed well on 2+ feet of compacted snow (keep feet on the trail or you'll disappear). The ascent/descent is unremarkable but the summit area is SPECTACULAR. In one direction, a picturesque Banff lies far below. At another direction, rugged high-mountains w/roaring winds. At another, an active science building that measures cosmological & subatomic particles. The locals describe this trail a thigh-blaster and it certainly lived up to its name.

Did it November 21st. We used microspikes for the first part of the trail and had to use snowshoes on the second half of the trail. At the amphitheatre, snowshoes are definitely not an option! Very nice trail but we expected to see the peak and the views on the lake. Unfortunetaly, the trail (we followed the Alltrail map) does not go all the way to the peak where you see viewpoints of the lake. I am not sure either it is possible to reach this point in that time of the year!

Very tough climb, but absolutely amazing views. I had to turn around before reaching the summit due to a late start. I hope to come back and complete it. I made a video on YouTube of the hike, just search Maps With No Roads on YouTube if you want a look at what the trail is like.
