The trail was not too busy on this Friday afternoon, and not too slippery. The canyon, the river and the waterfalls were incredibly beautiful.

Wonderful hike for the family! We had to walk up the road to access the canyon as the road is closed, saw 2 bears on the way in and 2 on the way out. I would strongly recommend carrying bear spray. Beautiful hike.

Pretty and easy trail. Quite crowded on the weekends so either go early or go late (slightly less people near sunset time)

Absolutely beautiful. The waterfalls are so impressive when they are frozen!

The destination is awesome. You will be mesmerized by the beauty of the falls. It's frozen right now but the water flows beneath it. Milky Blue colour of ice. The path is so slippery as it is full of ice(cleats recommended).

Great picture opportunities- not too crowded except at lower falls where people are Covid freaky. I wore micro spikes and husband wore Vans no issues.

HikingGreat!Snow

We hiked on November, 2020. The highway to the trailhead is closed so we have to walk 6km from Castle Junction to the Johnston canyon trailhead. A lot of snow and a little slippery. A hiking sticks and cleats helps. Went up to the upper falls lookout and the scenery is fantastic! The cave is finally open so you get to see the lower falls closer.

Walked in from the west gates it was 7.2km walk compared to the east gate which was 20km. Upon reaching the destination we came upon caribou grazing. The trail was easy and definitely would be a great place to do when the winter has come to an end.

Very easy trail, my cousin managed to do it in crutches somehow (there are rocky stairs involved). You can alternatively climb straight up the side of the rockpile, which is fun! The views of Moraine lake are beautifulllll - its one of my favourite spots in the world.

Hiked this in -15 degrees Celsius a while back , it was beautiful and so worth the effort. The waterfalls were mostly frozen and I’d never seen anything like it - it was insane!

Road is closed for 2020. We walked up to Moraine Lake through the snow but it was a cloudy day and lake was frozen.

WalkingGreat!

Really tough grind through the parking lot. Tough to make it up to the top. 9 m is a bit deceiving as it’s a gruelling 9m. Watch out for snow and wind. I brought my full alpine kit and would recommend you do the same if you’re embarking on this arduous journey

Went here 2 years ago. Can’t say enough. Beautiful and mind blowing. The most blue lake I’ve seen in my life.

There are a lots of viewpoints on the way. We stopped and hiked at Hector Lake, Bow Lake, Waterflow Lakes, mosquitos trail and a few others. It was a day well spent.

Perfect day riding Bow Valley Pkwy and then hiking to upper falls. Hardly any people made it a treat!
