Pretty cool trail. First part to Vista lake (not frozen) was muddy and easy. Second part, the real ascension, was icy and snowy but well tap. Second half of the ascending part was more steep. cleats and pole recommended! Took 1h45 to go all way up. You can continue 3km after Arnica lake (which was frozen) to Twin Lakes.

Took the dogs up this morning. It was extremely icy in the shade so micro spikes were a definite must have. Where the sun hit the trail the snow had softened by the time I made the trek down but some form of traction device was still the way to go. Great cardio work out. Nice view of Lake Minnewanka near the top.

Great hike for single hikers visiting town. Some of this hike was on a golf course, a little in the woods and some along a trail in front of houses with a great view of the city.

Completed on the 16th of October. The initial 5-6kms of forrest is nothing special. However, once you break out into the meadows you get some spectacular views! They make it worthwhile.
The trail is covered in snow/ice at this time of year. Cleats were a big help.

Such a pretty and peaceful hike. Great for those with less stamina or if you'd like to fit in a little hike. We were there before 10 AM and did not see one other person. Even though the trail was somewhat ice, it is completely flat, so was easy to traverse.

Loved it even though it is fairly well traveled with other hikers. Also recommend using crampons or some such device if the Park's trail conditions reports suggest it. We did not get very far since the trails were complete ice that day but were able to enjoy some by holding onto the railings.

Amazing trail, as everyone has said it's not easy. I took the clockwise route up to cory pass but the snow was so thick at edith pass I couldn't tell where the trail was. if you're going to attempt this hike in this season I would strongly recommend crampons and poles. the elevation gain is intense and coupled with snow and ice it makes for quite a treacherous climb. the scrambles in the snow were interesting but definitely manageable. again. crampons, wouldn't have been able to complete this hike without them. No bears but saw lots of tracks!!

Great hike. Definitely recommend snow cleats during shoulder season. Late September to early October expect many golden larches along the trail. Do not recommend taking the steeper shortcut for casual hikers. Saw ski marks shown parts of the trail.

Completed this hike on the 15th of October. Provides some breathtaking views, and only takes 30-45 minutes to reach the peak. Great reward for little effort! :)
As mentioned, it can be a bit slippery. However, no ice cleats needed, just take care.

Did this hike at sunrise 10/13. We had yaktraks but didn’t need them. Quick little summit great for a morning hike from lowed by breakfast in town.

Went up today at 12:30. Beautiful snow covered trail. Good switch backs all the way up. Yaktraks were very helpful!

October 9
Cool hike, great views of the canyone and walking right above it on the path and grates. Very icy though, high fall risk, crampons suggested. The only problem with this hike being the amount of people there (high) and the amount of people falling and basically scrambling not to fall because of the ice.

Quite satisfied with this hike! Did it with crampons (pretty necessary) and poles (optional here), with a 8 month old toddler. We are a 32/30 years old couple with some hiking experience and moderate fitness level and it took us about 1h35 on the way up (without much photo stopping) and 1h20 on the way down. First half is easy, steady way down to the first lake, with some mud. Some pretty views of the lower lake. After the bridge the way up starts. Somewhat steep in the second half, especially at the end after you reach the dried up lake. There’s about 100m ascent left at that point over less than 500m. Then you reach the lake, nestled in the mountainside, which is quite pretty. On your way back the end of the route isnt that dispiriting since it’s quite a gradual climb. Met 2 groups of 2 in total during the whole hike, pretty deserted! Note that on the way down (or up if you prefer taking breaks) the view in the last 1/3 is quite pretty as well.

Beautiful hike! Mirror Lake is very small and frozen now but a nice picture spot. Another half mile takes you to Lake Agnes which is also frozen but pretty. Tea house is closed but you can get a sense for its quaintness. Some steep parts of the hike and it’s snowy so you will want spikes.

A bit of an incline but this short beautiful hike has the most gorgeous view of the Chateau Lake Louise that you’ll see. Was snowy today so we were glad we had spikes.

Arrived a few weeks ago at 630am on a Friday. Parking lot was full at that time. Amazing views of the peaks. Some of the most scenic backdrops I have seen in a larch forest. Make sure to continue to Sentinel pass for more amazing views.

Snowy but the view at the end is amazing. If you climb up, you can take the gondola down for free after 5pm during winter.

Snowy and icy! Bring your spikes for the hike and you’re good to go!

Great hike with awesome views at the top we hiked to lake Agnes then hiked up to little beehive the views from there were incredible. There was a front coming through today and it snowed most of the hike the wind at the top was very strong, we also saw an avalanche across the mountain from us. I highly recommend crampons this hike had ice the entire way up and is very slick we saw lots of people unprepared and having a lot of trouble getting up and down.

hi folks is it possible to hike all of these rookies summit in winter too?

Favourite lake in Banff!! ❤️

Loved this hike! Falls were breathtaking. Started mid morning and passed a few people on route going to and from- shared the falls with only one other couple. If you’re in the area, this hike is a must!

5 starts for the lake itself but too crowded for my liking.

One of my personal favourite spots! Nature at its best! Hike was easy and rock climb was a fun challenge. We started this trail early evening and basically had it all to ourselves. Love. Love. Love. Would 100% recommend.

Lovely hike but you will want micro spikes especially for the trek up to the upper Falls. So many people slipping and sliding without them. Parking was no problem at 9:30 in a Thursday. Not crowded at all. But bring spikes!

Very nice trail despite the snow. Colors are still amazing! I’d rate this trail as moderate as the ascension was kinda smooth.

Hiked on Oct 9. The trail was snowy for the most part. Great hike overall! The clouds were overcast, but I still saw the beautiful views at the top. Prepare for more intense path inclines as you approach the summit.

Easy hike. Current snowy/icy conditions add a little more difficulty to get up to upper falls. Not as crowded due to overcast weather and trail conditions.

Beautiful views (until the clouds came in and our heads were literally in the clouds :) ) lovely hike - very cold at the weather station when we went up. The hike is a steady climb with great reward. So much snow up there already.

Did this hike on 10/9/18 lots of ice because of the Early snowfall this past week the hike was easy and the views were spectacular a great in town hike if you just have a half a day and need something fun to do.
