From the main square, take line 2 to the "Ebelsberg" stop, which can take around 25 minutes. The Linz-Ebelsberg parish church awaits you here. In 1919 the sanctuary was redesigned and Ebelsberg became the only Art Nouveau church in the state above the Enns. The centerpiece is a mosaic by one of Gustav Klimt's students. A plaque at Fadingerplatz No. 5 commemorates the death of the Upper Austrian peasant war leader Stephan Fadinger on July 5, 1626. Follow Panholzerweg to the plaque. Turn left and walk on the Traunuferdamm, where you stay until the mouth of the Traun-Danube. Then turn right onto the Wiesenweg, here the circuit around the Weikerlsee begins. A tip for nature and bird lovers: the 600 hectare Natura 2000 area Traun-Donauauen is an ecological jewel. The European nature reserve is home to a wealth of the rarest plants, from wild orchids to almost extinct crab claws. The vegetation is characterized by gray alder, willow and hardwood meadows. The alluvial forest is also home to a variety of wild animals: kingfisher, little grebe, black kite, gray and black woodpecker, beaver, tree frog, fire-bellied toad (only occurs in Upper Austria!). When you reach Weikerlseestrasse, continue towards the small Weikerlsee. If you want to end the hike here, you can reach Solarstadt (Line 2, Lunaplatz) via the gravel road - left in front of the wooden bridge with pavilion. But you can also continue on the flood protection dam and get back to the Traunuferdamm and back to Ebelsberg.Show more
