Note that most of these tracks are one direction mountain bike trails - hikers aren't allowed for a simple reason: it's dangerous for the hiker and the riders. Don't risk being hit by a mountain bike travelling at 40km/h and stick to the shared or hiker only tracks. That said Lysterfield is world class for both hiking and mountain biking.

Moderate walking but easy hiking

Great walk. Plenty of variety in the terrain. A few challenging climbs which I love. Not over keen with the section along Wellington Rd. Prefer not to hear traffic when I’m hiking. But otherwise really enjoyable. Unfortunately the fog never lifted on the day I chose so no sun for warmth (it was around 6 degrees), and so the views were hindered. A clear day would be brilliant.

A good trail for beginners.

A nice track with a few different terrain conditions. Some good really steep hills and some spectacular views but mostly flat.

Not really a hike, more a walk. Nothing difficult. Plenty of mountain bike trails and there are decent paths for a run around the lake. The boundary trail backs into people’s backyards. Kangaroos galore! Can’t miss them

Definitely not for hikers. It’s signposted as no walking, bikes only, and this status is aggressively defended by some of the riders, despite us staying well to the left of the track.

another sweet ride

Great track, even while it was very wet. A little slippery down hills at times and quite challenging uphill. Lots of roos and bird life.

Great hike with diverse vegetation. However, most of the track recommended for this walk is used by mountain bikes, especially on weekends. It can be a bit dangerous as there is not much room to share the track. This said, we came back on the Tramline Walk which is only for pedestrians, and this part was beautiful. We spotted some wildlife, grey kangaroos and an echidna.

love running Birdsland tracks. I find some of the uphills quite challenging. but always a pleasure. as noted earlier: Dargon track, not dragon.

great hike.not hard not easy. had a great time.

Great track with varied terrain and loads of wildlife. Kangaroos, swamp wallabies, an echidna and an array of bird life. Nice place to hike bike or trail run, there's a variety of trails that cross over each other so you can choose to complete a longer or shorter walk- the app was actually great here as I'm sure I would have turned down a wrong track at some point without it. Once you're away from the main picnic area it's really quiet. I've marked it down a star because there's a solid 5 kms of the walk that's a bit sparse- you're walking through a eucalyptus plantation so there's no undergrowth, just perfectly semetrical lines of gums. Not a particularly bad thing, I guess I just missed the ferns :) Overall I would still highly reccomend.

Beautiful park - fab for bbqs and you can spot a few kangaroos hoping around too!

It’s Dargon Track not Dragon Track, the name Dargon comes from a family that lived on the land in a stone cottage down near the Birdsland Lake, the ruins are still visible.

One of my favourite walks for a spur of the moment. Pack a thermos of coffee a couple of snacks and away. Good in all weather and times of day.
