beautiful scenery! it is definitely a heavily trafficked trail. you are not alone. trail is relatively easy but sturdy shoes are required.

Attempted back in July. There are signs that say the track is closed due to fire damage. The last kilometre of trail is completely washed away by multiple land slides making it next to impossible to navigate the final section to the lake. We didn't venture through the land slides section as it would have been highly risky trying to find the trial again on the way back. Hopefully it's fixed up soon. If attempted in winter be fully prepared for high winds, rain and snow for almost the whole hike.

A great overnighter, not too difficult, with fantastic views. Could be done as a relatively easy day hike if you don't live too far away!

Amazing scenery, challenging but not impossible terrain and a fantastic view from the top. If you’re in Hotham, do this hike.

Great walk! Awesome to see the vegetation change as you go up, and some beautiful tall forests. Happened to do it the weekend of a pow-day so also got a lovely snow surprise on the ground!

An absolutely beautiful hike up to the summit of Mt Feathertop. We hiked up it at the beginning of Winter on a sunny day. It took about 3 and a half hours to get to Federation Hut, then another half hour to hike to the summit. We met quite a few people that turned back at the hut, though we feel sorry for them because it was so much worth it to climb the final steep snowy section. In total, it took us about 7 and a half hours including a couple breaks. I would highly recommend this hike to anyone who has a bit of fitness, a bag with gloves and warm clothes for the top and hiking shoes.

Perfect hike to have 360 views on the Alpines! In the winter you have to walk in the snow for the last 2 km.

Start at Diamantina Hut, parking available on the side of the road. There should be a sign for Mount Feathertop via Razorback trail. I did this as a day hike and it was a blast! This was one of my first alpine snow hikes and the conditions made it quite challenging. Ice, snow, wind, rain and poor visibility. Decided not to summit because of safety reasons, but any hike is what you make it! A great challenge and a winter wonderland of diverse landscapes when conditions were calmer.

This trail was brilliant. We did it quickly in 6.5hours and took several breaks, particularly on the way up. It was fun and challenging all at the same time. The changes in scenery from bush, to forest and coming up to the summit with ankle deep snow was amazing. Would happily do again!
