not for kids.

Loved this walk. Great views

beautiful scenery with lots of options for hiking

Stunning scenery. One of my favourite places in Australia.

Lovely walk with views of the cradle mountains and lakes. Not to challenging some uphill climbs but breathtaking views. At Rooney creek there are lots of wombats about so keep a look out.

on Dove Lake Circuit

Lovely hike around the lake with my different plant ecosystems as you walk around. There are few nice beach areas which are good for breaks. The path is along a broad walk and super easy to follow. The times given for the walks are quite generous and don’t take that long. Toilets at trailhead. Was pretty busy on 26th December but still had some peace and quite.

Great track with much see and enjoy. Make sure you take your time to enjoy the side trips.
Need to take wet weather gear because the weather can change rapidly.

Beautiful! It was a rainy day when I went, but did not effect the views at all.

Done it twice. Keen for the next one already. Hopefully Winter next year.

Simply amazing!

Mostly boardwalk trail through rainforest around Dove Lake with good views of Cradle Mountain

Best hike I have ever done. Went 1-6 April. We had rain, gusty winds, sun, heat, cold, mud and lots of beautiful mushrooms. Loved it all.

Incredible. Highly recommended!

If you’re trying to get to the summit do not follow the trail that AllTrails has posted in here (as of March 2018). You’d be better suited to take the shuttle (or your car if you get to the park early enough -before 7 am) to the Dove Lake stop. I took the Dove Lake Circuit clockwise to Hanson’s Peak (steep with chains but a gorgeous route) you’ll see white poles with red reflectors on them that’s the route. Continue onto the Face Track (pretty strenuous) which will take you to the Cradle Mountain Summit Track. The summit track starts with stairs but takes you to bouldering and climbing. It is not for the inexperienced scrambler. There are parts that are tough alone (if you have short legs) but doable. Sometimes using your knee to prop you up is best. After you’re done with the summit and head down the Overland Track to the Dove Lake Alternate Route (steep with somewhat unnecessary chains). You’ll be back at the bottom and go past the well-known boat shed. It’s beautiful and I would highly recommend it.

We drove from Launceston at 3.30am to catch the sunrise at dove lake. Although it was a misty morning with a lot of cloud cover we were still taken back by the quiet and stillness of the lake. We began the circuit at 7am with the whole track to ourselves. Small areas of snow had not melted yet and created a light white blanket in areas over the mossy green! it truely was a magical morning and we felt like the only people in the word. I highly recommend making tye effort to escape those warm beds in the early morning and heading up the mountain to view its beauty in a quiet stillness. 10/10!!
