Description

Morialta Conservation Park is located in the Adelaide Hills on traditional lands of the Kaurna people. The park gets its name from the Kaurna word 'morialta' meaning 'ever-flowing' - from a landscape regenerative for hunting, gathering, and collecting wood for fire and shelter during seasonal migrations from the coast. There is an extensive network of trails within this woodland park, with plenty of features to explore - including gullies, giant caves, rugged ridges, and seasonal quartzite waterfalls along Fourth Creek. Wildlife are vibrant in the area, as the rock pools and creeks provide habitat for reptiles, amphibians and birds. Within this well-signed and managed park in close proximity to public transport, you will also find picnic areas, barbecues, accessible toilets and a playground.

Morialta Conservation Park

Length: 8.1 mi • Est. 4 h 40 m
This hike encompasses the highlights of the park - the First, Second, and Third Falls, as well as Deep View Lookout - this trail then takes you away from the paths most trodden and into some of the secret corners of the park. Many steep ascents and descents as well as the distance here make this a good workout, however it pays to slow down as in these less travelled areas Echidna, Kangaroos and Koala can be spotted. For a quieter circuit, this route follows the outer perimeter of the park and bypasses some of the more popular natural features in the parks centre - whilst still packing in the views. The terrain is mixed and includes a short roadside section on the return after visiting Third Falls. Be able to navigate with a GPS if needed as some sections have less signage than the rest of the park.Show more
