Hiking

This was a return hike from Tunk Head Road to Boat Harbor Beach for me. Hard as!!! The Hill on the eastern end of Tunkalilla Beach was insane!!! Steep, slippery and thank God for that fence.. glad it's over actually. Beautiful coastline and countryside though.

Muddy

Loved this hike! It was pretty muddy and slippery so make sure you take your time and wear your hiking shoes, especially after rain. It was a good gradual change from thick trees and scrub, the waterfall, the prescribed burn ground, and the more coastal fauna from trig to tapanappa which gives you ocean views. Definitely worth stating that there is some steep rockclimbing around the cove area.

Hiking

Unfortunately we had to turn back at the 10km mark as the creek was flowing so strongly that there was no way across. Maybe don’t go the day after we have had heavy rain. Had to hike 3km back to Trig campsite and hitch hike a lift back to our car!

Great trail. Some sections of the trail is slow incline or decline. Was a great hike.

Started this hike from Trig campground and hiked anti clockwise along the coastline. make sure you bring plenty of water as the hike is steep and has little shade to offer. you literally have to rock climb some parts of the hike oh and when we got to deep creek cove my girlfriend dropped waist deep into some quicksand. netherless once we got to the waterfall we jumped in for a refreshing swim. finished the hike camping at trig campground. had a perfect weekend, would recommend.

We walked clockwise to the waterfall and back. With an 8 and 10 yr old. Steep but worth it. Saw our first snake on the way out.

This is NOT to be considered as an 'easy' hike. It sits between moderate and difficult as there are sections that require technical hiking along very narrow slippery trails with steep drop offs down to a rugged rocky Southern Ocean. The Beach section is 4.5km and not the quintessential romantic beach walk many people say the like to do. You need to plan this walk to be done on a day when the tide is low and be prepared for soft boggy sand. The hill at the end of the beach walk will test your skill and stamina. It's very steep, slippery and although short it would be very challenging to the uninitiated hiker. All up you will require a good level of fitness and a sense of adventure.
