Worth a swim in the lake, although you’ll have to find your own access.

This is the best segment of the walk by far. Would recommend hiking North to South so that you leave this day as a reward. Amazing views, and the Cooloola Sand Blow is stunning.

Really nice small walk, perfect if you want a fifteen minutes of peace. There is some marshflies though, so insect repellent is required.

This segment of the track is easy to follow. The first 10km is on loose sand in eucalypt forest, the last 10km is a mix of rainforest and woodlands. Kauri campsite is in a rainforest, so remember to take insect repellent.

Had my phone on power saving mode for the first half of the hike, hence the terrible gps tracking!

One of the most beautiful places I’ve been! Loved lake Mackenzie so much, went in for a swim as well. The water was so blue, it reminded me of post card photos.

A beautiful hike I did on my own over 6 nights (two nights at Lake Mackenzie). For the really fit you could probably do it over 3 days but I wanted to take my time as the island is so beautiful and have time for swimming and chilling at the many lakes. Not a difficult hike at all, the trail is well marked, I dropped a star in my rating because there are a lot of trees down across the track and it is in need of some maintenance with some chainsaws which could easily be done by a crew over 3 days. A woman went missing while I was hiking (luckily she made her way East to the coast after 3 nights alone with no gear in the thick scrub), reminding us all that safe practices are a must (be aware of your surroundings and where the track is if you go off for any reason, carry a topo map, compass, PLB and let people know your itinerary), there is very little phone reception on the island so don't rely on this for contacting people. My topo map and the All Trails map served me well for checking where I was, terrain and distances remaining etc.  The camp sites are great with dingo-safe storage for food and are well maintained. Central Station has hot showers and takes $2 coins only which was a little luxury along the way.  Saw lots of pythons, bush rats tried to nibble into the tent at a few sites through the night, and while I saw no dingos on the trail, there were plenty on the coast and just beautiful to see. All up a great hike :)

Bit rocky and dirt but bit Beach too. We went up for the weekend and what a ripper it was. Great place for the kids, lots to see and do.

If you ever only want to do one multi day hike make it this one! Absolutely fabulous! Stunning views, solitude, enough of a challenge to make it interesting without being too tired to cook dinner and set up camp. Loved every minute of it. Just regret not swimming in the Noosa river.

This is an awesome walk for anyone wanting a reasonable challenge, it's not to far and travels through an area of fabulous trees and flora, to a return point overlooking the ocean.
