Short but extremely steep climb to views of a town, beach, and harbor down below. Trail keeps going but we were running out of daylight and stopped at Nubben.

Easy trail along a saddle. Front half is all gradual gain along trails and boards, back half is a steeper scramble. Stunning views of a beautiful beach above the Arctic Circle.

Very beautiful landscape. The scenery is just amazing on sunny days. Not very hard in my opinion.

If you are planing to take a trip to Norway (Reine) for this hike, please check with the local office since they just started construction on this road and the entrance is closed to the public. We were told by the construction crew the just started the project yesterday (8/15/18) and will continue for the next 5 weeks. So your math and plan accordingly. We found a different place hike (Mølnarodden) not as nice but with great views of the city as well. Look up for lake Solbjørnvatnet and make your way up. Highly recommend

The views are amazing! The flys were the downside - it was massive on the mountain walk to Stø - maybe it was because of the heat and not much wind. Bring water - our 1/2 Liter pr person was not enough on a hot summer day! We found tap water at the camping site. But it was a long hike to that point. (Stø was a pretty dead town - maybe more will open in future, it seems like they were rebuilding at the camp site)

This trail has a bit of a multiple personality disorder going on. The start of it is through a wooded area, which then turns into crossing a boggy bit of land, before finally ascending the mountain which has a bit of a rocky scramble at the top. This trail is largely unmarked, and a bunch of footpaths go off in every direction at different points. I actually got lost after reach the top and made my way back down the wrong side of the mountain, where I had to cross a wire fence to get back to the main road. At the start, you'll park alongside the main road - Google Maps has the area listed as Holandsmelen Parking. From there, you'll pass through a gate that makes it seem like someone's property, but that's the right path. The middle and end of this trail is rather exposed, so keep that in mind and don't forget your sunscreen. This trail has a big payoff, though, with wonderful 360 degree views. Holandsmelen is a lone mountain in this area, so it offers a great view of all the surrounding flatlands, including a great view of some beautiful beaches.

Bunes Beach is very scenic and very isolated. To get here, you first have to take a ferry from Reine to Vindstad, and those only run twice a day (usually once in the morning for drop-off, and once in the afternoon for pick-up). The trail is rather easy, with only a bit of steepness at the end, before the beach. The trail is well-marked, considering how isolated and lightly trafficked this is. It starts in the town of Vindstad, as soon as you get off the ferry. As you walk through the town, there will eventually be a sign that points you to the left and the real "trail" part of this trail starts. Most of it is at a mild incline, which kicks up a bit just before you reach the beach (though I wouldn't call this "steep"). Then a quick decline to get you onto the sand part of the beach. To get to the actual water, though, it's about another 10-15 minute walk. At the end, you end up on a very lovely white sand beach surrounded by glacier mountains (which can also be hiked, if you plan on camping overnight). This is Norway, so it goes without saying that you can camp here. Most people just do this hike as a day trip, but there will be a few people who stay behind to hike the peaks alongside the beach (which offer great views themselves).

Hiking

A short hike, but I wouldn't describe it as easy as there are areas of pretty steep incline. But once you make it to the top, the views are spectacular in pretty much all directions - especially over Svolvaer and the ocean. I went at midnight, during the summer, to view the midnight sun.

Hiking

Strenuous hike with one of the most fantastic payoffs at the top. It ascends about 1500 feet over about half a mile, so it's steep! The locals will tell you the trail is closed while they are working on a set of stairs to make the climb a little safer, but you can still do the hike without them. The initial part is through some trees and over some slippery rocks. I did this hike after a few days of rain, and it wasn't easy initially! Lot's of mud and wet rocks. Boots are very much recommended, but that being said, my friend (who is not experienced at hiking) had his luggage lost and had to climb this in my Nike sneakers. Tough, but by no means impossible. After you get out of the trees, it gets very steep. Be sure to watch for loose rocks that can trip you up and then be sent down the mountain. Please be vocal if you knock some loose! I almost got clocked by tumbling rocks because the cllimbers ahead of us didn't say anything. We made it to the top after about an hour, and were rewarded with one of the best views I've ever seen. If you split off to the right, you go do a bit of a climb and end up about 50 feet higher. There is a path off to the left which also provides spectacular views. Be aware that if you are afraid of heights, this is a lot! But don't let it stop you. It's worth it.

Was overcast when I did this walk, so the views were not as good as I hoped. Was still a very enjoyable hike, and views would have stunning on a clear day. Track notes: https://hikingtheworld.blog/2016/09/29/justadtinden/

The path up was relatively easy to find, with a big arrow near the E10 tunnel entrance. The first part of the track was not too steep but very muddy. The second part was very steep and slippery. But was worth it for the views, which are just incredible! Track notes: https://hikingtheworld.blog/2016/09/28/reinebringen/

Track was very muddy and the start of the trail a bit hard to find... but it was fairly easy to follow once we reached the lake. a few rocky sections had chains, which was fun. Didn't get all the way to Stokkvikskaret as it was a bit foggy, and my 8-yr old son was starting to get tired (and almost lost a shoe in the mud)! Was a wet day, so I only got as far as the saddle just below the peak - there are already great views from here. Didn't attempt the last scramble to the summit as rocks were very slippery. https://hikingtheworld.blog/2016/09/30/floya-svolvaer/
